One of the principal objects of this invention is to present a dependable and adjustable bracket means which cooperates with and operates the switch arm of a well known burglar alarm device which is attached to doorways, windows, and other openings to be automatically guarded.
Another object is to provide a bracket means which is adapted for operating a burglar alarm switch which is simple and sturdy in construction, easy to install and operate, and which is economical to make and manufacture.
Other objects, advantages and features of this invention will appear from a perusal of the accompanying drawings, the subjoined detailed description, the preamble of these specifications, and the appended claims.
Applicant is now about to describe one of the preferable forms of his invention in order to teach one how to make and use the same, but it is to be understood that the drawings and description thereof are not to limit the invention in any sense whatsoever except as specifically limited by the appended claims.

To insure the insulation of these parts from one another, an insulation sheet or strip [3 is inserted between them in the well known manner.
From the bar member 6 leads an insulated electrical conductor l4 and from the flexible arm I ll leads another insulated electrical conductor I5, these conductors not only have the switch arm ill and bar member 6 in series, but also a source of suitable electric current and one or more fire or burglar alarms situated at predetermined places. Thus, when the switch arm l0 makes contact with the finger 9, the circuit is closed and the alarm sounded. All the foregoing parts are well known and are given in order to show how the invention is applied thereto.
The bracket means of this invention is indicated in general by the reference character l6 and consists of a base or main support item having the outstanding sleeve portion I! which is integral with the opposite directed flanges i8 and I9 that are attached securely to the top of the door 4 by screws. The base has a hole 20 which allows'the head of an adjustable screw 2! to pass therethrough.
The sleeve H has a squared bore 22 which snugly accommodates the element 23 which has a squared cross-section and which is freely slideable through the bore 22 when in a released condition. Note, that the adjustable screw H is threaded into the inner end of the element 23, and that this screw can be set so as to limit the distance that the element can be forced into the sleeve H,
The element 23 has an integral extending rod 24 that is adapted to engage the switch arm ill and free the end thereof from the contact fin er 9 when the door is, in a closed position. The ele= ment 23 has a slot or groove 25 which accommo= dates the stem of a screw 26 that is threaded through one side of the sleeve l'l. This screw and groove arrangement makes it possible to ad. just the element 23 relative to the sleeve I! and changes and modifications may be made in the details of form, style, design, and construction of the whole or any part of the specifically described embodiment of this invention without departing from the spirit thereof; such changes and modifications being clearly within the scope of the following claims.
I claim:
1. A bracket means for burglar alarm switches, said means comprising a base with means for attaching it firmly to a closure, a sliding means incorporated in the base and constructed with means for adjustably fixing it to the base, an arm extending from the sliding means which is adapted to engage a flexible switch arm and open an electrical circuit, a rectangular bore in the base sized to snugly receive the sliding means, the sliding means having an adjustable screw at 4 one end thereof opposite the end fixed to the arm, and a groove in the sliding means accommodating the stem of a set-screw which passes through the base at one side thereof.
2. A bracket means for burglar alarm switches, the bracket having a base with a square bore therein and a slidable element in the bore having a square crosssection, means for attaching the base to a closure combination, a groove in one side of the element, a set screw threaded through one side of the base and having its stem in the groove, an arm extending from the element having an end adapted to compress a flexible switch arm, the end of the element opposite the arm thereof having an adjustable stop screw, said screw being mounted so that the head thereof can contact the surface upon which the bracket means is attached.
