One of the principal objects of this invention is to provide a new and novel memorandum device which is low in frame structure and provides a ready and easy means for making notes, the device being simple and sturdy in construction, and economical to make and manufacture.

The sidewalls 5 and 6, rear wall 2 and partition ll form a paper roll cage or compartment. 7

Each post 1 and 8 is integral with its associated wall and also with a portion of the base plate I so that the posts stand up in the rigid positions, as shown. Integral with each post is the cross partition or wall I I having a finger accommodating recessed portion l2 at its upper central portion. The post I has a forward positioned and short cross directed flange or wall [3, and the post 8 has a similar flange or short wall I4, these short walls being integral with their respective posts. The base plate i has its side edges turned upwardly, as at H: and I6, and a flange extending therealong, as at I! and I8, these flanges extending from their respective post forwardly to join the cross bar 19 at the very front edge of the device. These flanged edges forming guide slots and the side portions of a writing frame. At the bottom at the inner side of each post there is a short platform or floor piece 20. Beneath each short floor piece, there is a passage 2|, and beneath the flanges I1 and I8, and the cross bar 19, there is a slight space which allows the paper from the roll 4 to slide between these parts and the base plate I, the front edge of the base plate and the bar forming a slot with the bars lower front edge being sharp so that paper from the roll can be neatly torn across this portion of the bar. A finger accommodating recessed portion 22 is provided at the forward end of the base plate which allows the operators fingers to grasp the front edge of the paper after a forward portion thereof has been torn across the face of the slot.

A set of calendar cards 23 are shown in the provided card slots 24 and 25, but also within this same slot there may be provided an envelope of proper size, the same size as the length and breadth of the cards, which is used for holding notes to be retained, that is, notes from the paper strip 4' of the roll.

In order to prevent the roll from accidentally unwinding or rolling more than necessary when a strip is torn therefrom, a suitable brake means is provided. In this particular form, the brake means is an endless rubber band 26, the forward end of which is anchored to the hook .21 which has its stem 28 securely fixed or anchored within the top central portion of the partition I I, the hook extending into the recessed portion I2, as shown. A portion, or strip, or the rear wall 2 at its top central portion is bent, as shown, to form a hook 29 to receive and hold the other end of the rubber band 26. A hole 30 is shown in the roll of paper Any suitable rod, not shown, may be placed through the hole and its ends rested on the recessed portions 3| so as to hold the roll up when it gets smaller,

This device is adapted to many writing uses, and especially for making duplicate copies of memorandums and notes. This is done by making a roll of two parallel sheets or strips, the top strip having a carboned surface underneath so that when one writes on the top surface of the top sheet an exact duplicate in carbon is made on the top surface of the under sheet or strip. Therefore, the roll is made of double strips and after a note has been made, the double strip portion is moved through the front slit beneath the bar l9 and this part of the double strip is torn away, thus presenting one original and one copy. The top strip may be printed with the business mans name and address if desired or any other proposed printing to meet the wishes of the owner of the memoroll.

It is, of course, understood that various changes and modifications may be made in the details of form, style, design and construction of the whole or any part of the specifically described embodiment of this invention without departing from the spirit thereof, such changes and modifications being restricted only by the limitations clearly expressed in the following claims.

Having thus described my invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:

l. In a single integral molded memorandum unit, the unit comprising a base with the forward side edges thereof turned upwardly and over the top thereof to form raised side marginal portions spaced above the base, the base having a rear portion curved upwardly and upwardly directed sides which form a pocket for a roll of paper, a front partition for the pocket which is integral with the upwardly directed sides but spaced from the base to provide a passage for a paper sheet, a hook at the top central portion of the curved upwardly portion of the base and another hook at the top of the central portion of the partition, and a rubber band looped into said hooks which is adapted to pass over a roll of paper when placed into said pocket.

2. A memorandum unit comprising a base-which is flat and has one end curved upwardly to form a rear wall, a hook centrally positioned at the top of the rear wall, an upright partition spaced forwardly of the rear wall and spaced slightly above the base, a pair of spaced side walls joining the rear wall with the partition to form a chamber adapted to receive a roll of paper, a hook centrally positioned at the top of the partition, a rubber band which is stretched across the chamber and looped into said hooks, and marginal overhanging side edges along the forward portions of the base adapted to guide paper along the forward top part of the base.
