This invention relates to improvements in an infants toilet seat attachment for use on an adult toilet seat of usual structure.

An object of the inven ion is to provide anim fants toilet seat having a folding back-rest and side-arms and an adjustable foot-rest having locking engagement with the supports for the side arms when the foot-rest is moved to a selected position and the back-rest and side-arms are secured in their unfolded position.

And another object :of the invention is to so arrange the folding and adjustable parts as to permit collapse of the parts into compact form to facilitate transport and storage of the appliance when not in use. v

Other objects and advantages of the invention appear in the following description.

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of an appliance in which the invention is incorporated, the backrest and side-arms being secured in unfolded position and the foot-rest extended and locked in a selected position;

Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of the appliance when collapsed and showing the folding and adjustable parts dotted in position for use; and

Fig. 3 is a fragmentary detail perspective view of one of the side-arm supports and the locking lug thereon.

The illustrative embodiment of the invention consists of a seat 4 having a seat opening 5 therein of the usual form, a. back-rest 6 having end supports 1 rigidly secured thereto and which extend astride of the seat to which the end supports are pivotally secured by means of screws 8, a spring brace 9 on the back-rest that has locking engagement with a stud Ill on the rear end of the seat by which to secure the back-rest in unfolded position, side-arms ll secured to the back-rest by means of screws l2 provided with forward arm supports I3, and a foot-rest l4 provided with extension bars l5 that lie astride the seat 4 against the sides thereof to which they are movably secured by means of screws l6 that project through the slotted bars and on which the slotted bars have longitudinal sliding movement.

The forward arm supports l3 are pivotally secured at one of their ends to the corresponding side-arms ll adjacent the forward ends thereof, by means of screws I1, and the opposite ends thereof are pivotally secured to the seat by means of screws I8 that project through the elongated slots I9 in the corresponding extension bars IS. (01. 155-31) are each provided with an inturned lock lug .211 that is adapted to have engagement in one of a series of notches 2.! made in the lower edge of each extension bar when the foot-rest is in a selected position and the back-rest and sidearms are moved into opened position and se cured in such position by enga ement of the spring brace '9 with the stud l0.

Preferably, there are proyided washers 22 that are disposed between the heads of the screws 116 and the outer faces of the extension bars Iii that are held loosely in place so the extension bars may readily be moved longitudinally without binding.

In operation, the back-rest .and side arms are partially raised from their folded-position by ma.- nipulating the back-rest, whereupon the locklugs 29 on the forward supports for the sidearms are automatically moved from their ongagement with the extension bars, thus permitting the foot-rest to be moved forwardly to a selected position. The back-rest together with the side arms are moved into their full unfolded position where they are held by engagement of the spring brace 9 with the stud on the back end of the seat, and the lock-lugs 20 are moved into the adjacent notches 2| in the extension bars thus securing the foot-rest in the selected position. The appliance is collapsed by releasing the spring brace from the stud and then moving the folding and adjustable parts into their initial folded positions.

Variations from the particular construction above disclosed may be resorted to by the exercise of skill in the art, without departure from the spirit or scope of the invention.

What I claim is:

1. An infants toilet seat attachment consisting of a seat having an opening therein, a folding back-rest having end supports rigidly secured thereto and which extend astride of said seat and are pivoted thereon, a spring brace on said backrest having locking engagament with a stud on the rear end of the seat by which to secure the back-rest in unfolded position, side-arms pivoted at one of their ends to the back-rest and having in pivotal connection with their opposite ends forward arm supports that have pivotal connection with said seat, the lower ends of said forward arm supports having on their lower ends inturned lock-lugs respectively, and a foot-rest provided with slotted extension bars that lie astride said seat against the sides thereof, supports on the seat extending through the slots in said bars on which said bars have longitudinal guided sliding movement, each extension bar having a series of notches in which said locklugs have engagement accordingly as said footrest is adjusted to a selected position and the back-rest and side-arms are moved to their full unfolded position, thus to secure the foot-rest in the selected position.

2. An infants toilet appliance consisting of a seat having an opening therein, a folding backrest having pivotal support on said seat and provided with means for locking the back-rest in its unfolded position, sidearms having pivotal connections at one of their ends with said backrest, forward arm supports for the opposite ends of said side-arms pivotally connected thereto at one of their ends and with said seat at their opposite ends, each of said forward arm supports having an inturned lock-lug, a foot-rest provided with extension bars that lie astride said seat along the sides thereof, and supports on the seat upon which said extension bars have longitudinal guided sliding movement, said lock-lugs having engagement with said extension bars when the back-rest and side-arms are secured in their unfolded positions whereby the foot-rest is held in a selected position of adjustment.

In an infants toilet appliance of the type that has a toilet seat provided with a folding structure pivotally supported thereon constituting a hack-rest and side-arms, means for securing the folding structure in unfolded position, a foot-rest including extension bars that are disposed astride said seat, and overlap the sides thereof, each extension bar having an elongated 4 moved into unfolded position whereby to secure said foot-rest in a selected position of adjustment.

In an infants toilet appliance in which a toilet seat is provided with a folding structure pivotally supported thereon, constituting a backrest and side-arms, and provided with means to lock the structure in unfolded position, a footrest provided with extension bars, supports on the seat on which said bars have longitudinal guided sliding movement and locking means conslot, a pair of guide-screws onthe seat, spaced sisting of lugs on the folding structure and notches in said extension bars that have engagement when said appliance is unfolded whereby to secure the foot-rest in a selected position relative to the seat.

5. An infants toilet appliance consisting of a toilet seat, a folding structure on said seat provided with latching means to hold the folding structure in unfolded position, extension bars supported on guides on said seatand provided with a foot-rest, and a locking means on the folding structure having engagement with said extension bars when the folding structure is moved into unfolded position.
