Description

July 26, 1949. M. STRAIT 2,477,353
CLOSURE F011 PANTY GI RDLE Filed Oct. 18; 1946 IN'VENTOR.
Patented July 26, 1949 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE CLOSURE FOR PANTY GIRDLE Mabel Strait, Tulsa, Okla.
Application October 18, 1946, Serial No. 704,195
1 Claim. 1
My invention is of that class of closures for the crotch and rear of ladies pantie girdles and it allows the crotch and rear of these garments to be opened and closed easily, making it unnecessary to pull the whole pantie girdle down to obtain relief when using the rest room or bath room.
The pantie girdles sold today have no provision for opening the crotch and rear and my invention saves much time and effort.
My pantie girdle closure is simply and easily made, allowing an efiioient and reliable closure without much increase in cost as it is constructed entirely of cloth andhas no zippers, snaps, buttons, straps or other things that can cause trouble.
It is not noticeable from the outside of the garment in any position and it can be quickly and easily opened or closed.
In order to better understand my invention please refer to the drawing in which the rear section of a pantie girdle using it is shown.
The letter S is the center seam extending from point E to point C.
There is an opening between points D and C on this center seam. This opening DC provides sides I and 2 of the garment.
The bottom of the closure is fastened to the seam XCY.
A triangular flap A is sewed to side I on this opening by the outer seam CD which is on the hypotenuse of the triangle and is sewed to the side 2 by the seam AD on the base of the triangle, forming the new opening AC.
The triangular flap B is sewed to side 2 by the inner seam CD and is sewed to side I by the seam DB forming the new opening BC.
Both flaps are in the form of right angle triangles and are fastened to the garment by seams in their hypotenuses and bases, although I do not limit the claim of my invention to right angle triangles or sections of right angle triangles. Any triangle or triangular section whose height is at least three times its base will work satisfactorily.
Right angle triangles are used in this specification to make it easier to understand.
The inner extremity of the opening is BC and the outer extremity is AC.
In opening the flap A moves towards side i, and the flap B moves toward side 2 allowing plenty of space for the purpose for which the opening is made.
In closing the flap A lies over side 2 on the outside of the opening concealing it and the flap B lies on the inside against side I, keeping the opening well closed and preventing any exposure.
My invention has been thoroughly tested and has been found to be efficient, reliable and convenient.
Having described my invention in detail what I now claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a pantie girdle closure the following parts in combination in the following positions: two triangular shaped section flaps; one sewed at its base to one side of the garment on the outside, with one side of the flap sewed to a side of a center opening so that this flap lies on the outside of the garments; the other flap sewed at its base to one side of the garment on the inside with one side of the flap sewed to the opposite side of the center opening so that this flap lies on the inside, forming a new opening between the unattached sides of the flaps.
MABEL STRAIT.
