Description

April 19, 1949. N. J. PAT4TS 2,467,984
RETURNABLE SPECTACLE CASE Filed Feb. 3, 1947 5" 'INVENTOR. 7&(lok5kfP4iZ and rear section 4 hinged or bent V and on the inside Patented Apr. '19, 1949 Application February 3, 1947, Serial No. 726,187 1 Claim. (01. 150-7) My present invention relates to an improved returnable spectacle case of the conventional shape and size to receive and retain conventional spectacles but including a novel and unique structure including a transparent window by means of which the finder of the lost case is directed to perform one simple act and then deposit the case in a mail box for return to the owner.
In the accompanying drawingsl have illus trated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention according to the best mode I have thus far devised, but it will be understood that various changes and alterations may-be made in the exemplified structure within the scope of the appended claim.
In the drawinss- Fig. 1 is a rear elevational view'of the case of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a front elevational view.
Fig. 3 is a, perspective view of the case in open position.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view partially broken away to show the interior arrangement when in possession of the owner.
Fig. 5 is a similar view ready for mailing.
Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the address flap in normal position.
Fig. '7 is a perspective view of the flap in mailing position.
Referring now to the drawings, I employ a case of conventional shape made of leather or other suitable material comprising the front section 2 at 6. A flap 8 extends from the back section and has a snap button or fastener l insertable in the snap receiver on the front section 2.
The back section 4 is formed with a window 12 of the front section 2 I secure the lower portion ll stitched at ii, of the card holder which is slit at it to receive the corners of the card 20 hearing indicia relating to the name and address of the owner and postage to cover mailing. The upper panel 22 of the card holder is folded at 24 and may assume a position either in front or in back of the lower panel and the card.
A snap button 28 on'the back cover engages the receiver 28 when the upper portion 22 is in back of'the card.
Spectacles 30 are positioned as usual and normally the card is covered by the portion 22 as in Fig. 4. -However should finder will lift' the upper panel 22 of the card holder reversing its position as shown in Fig. so
that the card is visible throughthe window.
The case may then be closed and deposited in a mail box for return to the owner.
Having thus full described my invention what I claiism as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent In a. spectacle case having-hinged front and back sections with an extended flap on the open edge of the back section and secured by a snap 1 fastener to the front section with the case in the closed position, said back section having a window therein, and a card folder having hinged front and rear panels with the lower edge of the rear panel secured to the. inner edge of the front section of the case,'said rear panel of the card folder having card retaining meansthereon whereby a card therein is positioned to register with. the window in the back section of the case, and the front panel of said card holder adapted to fold to positions on either side of the rear panel whereby a card on the holder may be exposed to show throughthe window of the back section of the'case or-cover.
