Description

Oct. 11,1927.
N. J. CHURMUSI LICENSE CARD HOLDER Filed Aug. 26, 1925 Patented Oct. 11, 1927.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
NICOLOAS JOHN CHUBMUSI, OF SYRACUSE, NEW YORK.
LICENSE-CARD HOLDER.
Application filed August 26, 1925. Serial No. 52,593.
and the case permitted of bein attached to 1 the wind shield or upon a win ow where it may be readily seen. By use of this device the license card will, at all times, be prominently displayed so that it maybe seen by a trafiic oflicer and there will be no danger of the operator of the automobile forgetting the license and not having it with him when driving the automobile.
This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a View showing the case in rear elevation,
Fig. 2 is a view showing the case partially in top plan and partially in longitudinal section,
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view through the case taken along the line 33 of Fig. 2.
The case is preferably formed of soft leather, but it will be understood that it may be formed of heavy paper or any other suitable material. The blank from WhlCh the case is formed is folded intermediate its depth thereby providing front and rear' walls 1 and 2 which are, of course, joined at their lower edges and have their end portions sewed together by stitches as shown at 3 in Figure 2. When sewed together at their ends the joined walls form a pocket which is of a length and depth to snugly receive a license card 4. In the preferred form the license card is provided with spaces to be filled in and disclose the name and address of the person to whom the license is issued. The license may also be provided with other spaces to be filled in with information concerning the person obtaining the license and a space for a photograph. It will be understood, however, that the specific form of license is immaterial. as the license holder constitutes the subject matter of this invention. The faces of the license card is to be displayed when the card is placed in the case and therefore the front wall 1 has been formed with a sight opening 5 which exdisconnected from the wings. fore be seen that the case, which is light 85 tends throughout the greater portion of the length and width of the front wall. sight opening is closed by a transparent sheet 6 preferably formed of isin-glass and disposed against the inner face of the front wall and secured by stitching along its sides and ends as shown at 7. A flap extension no extends from the upper edge of the front wall and is adapted to be folded downwardly into overlapping relation to the rear Wall 2 so that the flap will close the open upper end of the card receiving pocket. This flap may be releasably held shut in any desired manner, but in the present illustration a snap fastener 9 is employed. When the case is in use it is to be attached to the wind shield with the front wall 1 facing the wind shield through openings 12 in the wings and terminate in enlarged heads 13. The heads 13 will securely hold the suction cups in place and prevent them from becoming accidently It will therein weight, may be securely mounted upon the wind shield where the license card will be permanently displayed.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:
A license card holder, consisting of a single blank including a front having a central portion cut away, a back at one side of the rant and projecting at opposite ends to provide wings, and a flap at the opposite 95 side of the front, the front being foldable on the back and stitched at its ends thereto and the flap being foldable over the back to close the card receivin pocket formed between the front and bac a transparent 1 sheet placed against the inner side of the front and stitched thereto adjacent the opening formed therein, and vacuum cups attached to the end wings.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature.
