SINGLE-TREE CLIP.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 246,403, dated August 30, 1881,

To all whom it may concern:

Beit known that I, HAMILTON MCCOY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, in the county of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Improvementin Single-Tree Clips with Stationary Ring or Eye, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in single-tree clips, in which the clip is provided with a solid eye and adapted to be placed on or removed from a single-tree; and the object of my invention is to provide a ring and clip which may readily be placed on a sin gle-tree or removed therefrom. This objectl accomplish by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a single-tree with my improved clip attached to the center and a pair of similar clips on the ends of the single-tree. Fig. 2 is an edge view of the clip.

Similar letters in the two views refer to like parts.

A represents the single-tree; B, the band of the clip. One end of the band has the solid part H, to which also is cast the solid ring 0, or its equivalent, the hook F. The other end of the band B has a lug, H, adapted to fit on the part H, as shown in Fig. 2. Through the parts H and H are bolt-holes, in which is inserted the bolt D. The bolt D is removed or loosened when the band B is placed on the single-tree, and the clip is made fast at any point by tightening the bolt.

It is obvious that the solid ring 0 may form a hook, as shown at F, Fig. 1, without departing from the spirit of my invention.

The above-described clip is also shown and described in another pending application of even date herewith, but is not there claimed.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The clip consisting of the band B,'having at one end the part H and ring 0, or its equivalent, a hook, F, and the other end of the band provided with a lug, H, combined with the bolt D, substantially as specified.
