1 Claim.
My invention relates to the type of hose clamp disclosed in my Patent Number 2,324,780 issued July 20, 1943, and it has for its objects: to improve the clamp of that patent so as to reduce cost of manufacture and make it possible to economically manufacture the clamps in the smaller sizes, i. e. down to clamps of inch diameters; to provide means to prevent twistingdisplacement of the threaded end when drawing up on the nut; to provide a one piece (exclusive of the nut) clamp preformed to the circular shape and dimensioned diameter of the hose to be clamped.
Other objects will in part be obvious and in part be pointed out hereinafter.
To the attainment of the aforesaid objects and ends the invention further resides in those novel details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, all of which will be first fully described hereinafter and then be specifically pointed out in the appended claim, reference being had to the accompanying drawing in which:

In the drawing in which like numerals and letters of reference indicate like parts in all the figures, I represents a flexible strap or band, one end of which has at one end an integrally formed rod-like portion 2 of semi-circular cross-section which portion on its curved face has threads 3 formed in it by coining dies, and at the other end it has an abutment 4 and a semi-circular cross-section rod-like portion 6 which projects at right angles from the abutment face 8 and is non-threaded. So far as described the parts I to 4 inclusive and 6 and 8 are, in general, the same as in my patent aforesaid.
The present structure, however, differs from that disclosed in my said patent, in that the abutment 4, in the preferred form has a passage 5 through which the threaded end 2, 3, is passed, the passage being semi-circular in cross-section, and the abutment as well as the threaded portion 2, 3, is formed integrally with the strap.
In the modified form shown in Figs. 4, 6 and 7, the abutment 4 is provided with ears 9 that may be bent over into circular segments to embrace the member 2 3, as shown in Fig. 6. In the form shown in Figs. 4, 6 and '7 those parts which correspond to like parts in the preceding figures bear the same reference numbers plus the index letter a so a repetition of the description of those parts is thought to be unnecessary.
In the manufacture of my improved clamp all parts except the nut H] are die cast in one operation. The member 2 is then placed in coining dies and the threads formed thereby. The clamp is then preformed to the circularcurve 1 (Fig. 2) and dimensioned diameter and a standard hexagon nut installed.
The clamp is preferably made of rust proof metal and can be used time and again with no loss of efliciency.
It is planned to furnish the clamp in the preformed circular shape with nut installed, see Figs. 1 and 2. For installations requiring maximum security under all conditions a fiat washer type of lock ll, having a hole ll to fit over the rod like portions 2 and 6, will be provided with three ears l2 and I3, see Figs. 8 and 9. This sheet metal lock is to be installed under the tension nut l0 and two of the ears, l2, being bent back against the sides of the abutment while the top ear I 3 will be bent forward over the nut to prevent it from loosening. In Fig. 9 those parts which correspond to like parts in Figs. 1 to 7 bear the same reference numbers plus the index letter b, so a repetition of the description thereof is thought unnecessary.
From the foregoing it will be seen that the one-piece structure prevents separation between the parts I, 2, 4 and 6, due to faulty welding, etc.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing it is thought the construction and advantages of my invention will be clear to those skilled in the art.
What I claim is:
In a hose clamp wherein is provided three separate units, one of which is a nut, another of which is a washer and the third of which is a strap: the improvement which comprises a body composed of single piece of metal consisting of a 3 flexible hand one end of which has a threaded rod-like portion, the other end of which has an abutment and a non-threaded rod-like portion, said rod-like portions being constructed to lie in parallelism and approximately tangent to the band when the clamp is in use, each of said rodlike portions being of semi-circular form in cross section and, when the clamp is in use lie in close proximity, said abutment having ears which lie over the threaded rod-like portion to hold it down in the abutment, a washer having a hole to fit over said rod-like portions and having at least two ears, one of which is bendable to lie over said threaded rod-like portion between said ears and the other being bendable to engagea side of the nut, when the nut is fitted over said rod-like portions and engage said washer to 'force it against said abutment and draw said hand tight on a base.
