Be it known that I, F REDERICK JOHN TRE- YALLON BAnNns, subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Hamilton, near Brisbane, Queensland, ixLl-Slil'tlllfi, have invented certain new and useful Improve- 'ments in Hose Clips, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object the production of a simple device for securing hose on ferrules, metal tubes and the like. V
In carrying out my invention I form a tension piece oi? suitable metal curved along one side to neatly fit against the outside of the hose, being made of the'smalles't convenient size, and thickness. Thistension piece is adapted to fit over the ends of a piece of wire of suitable gauge and which is bent to fit around the hose. The clip is tightened by means of a nut screwed on one end of the wire against the tension piece.
In order that my invention may be better understood I will now describe it with the aid of the accompanying drawings in which- Fig. l is a heavy type clip.
Fig. 2 is a plan thereof.
Fig. 3 is a light type clip.
Fig. 4 is a plan of a stamping for making a stamped tension piece. I

The tension piece A is made of any suitable metal, either cast, stamped or machined.
In Figs. 1 and 2 the tension piece A is of heavy pattern for use on pipes of large bore and where heavy pressures are desired. The
perspective view of a stamped tension piece Aas shown in Fig. 3 is of a light type for use on small diameter pipe. The tension piece A as shown in Figs. 4 and 6 is stamped from strips of metal.
The inner side of the tension piece A. is curved to conform as nearly as possible to that of the circumference of the hose B to which it is to be fitted but of course it will be understood that it may be used for radii, approximating thereto. In one'end of the tension piece A is formed a hole C and at the other end is formed another hole D and recess E. These holes C D are parallehthe hole C being tangential 'to the hose B. It is possible that may vary the shape of the holed) from that shown in the drawings;

In the case of the stamped clip (Figs. 4. and 6) the wire F passes through the slot threaded to receive the nut H and the other end J is turned at right angles, and thus parallel to the threaded portion G being adapted to fit in the hole D and recess E. This band F may be round, oval or other sectional wire, formed at the ends, and plain or fiattened at the part where it embraces the hose. As an alternative, the band may be made of metal tape formed and shaped at the ends as may be necessary. It is preferred that the wire F should not be too hard, but such that canbe readily bent. The nut H which sits on the fiat face K of the. tension piece A may be of any suitable shape such as for use with a spanner or screw driver or may be milled or winged for use with the fingers and thumb.
When in use the wire F is placedround the hose B to be clamped on the ferrule or the like.

The nut H is then screwed on the end G of oi the wire F against fiat face K of the tension piece A, and until sutficient tension is put on the wire F. It will be seen that as the nut H is Screwed on the end G of the wire F the diameter of the circle of wire is gradu ally decreased the wire. F being pulled through the hole C in the tension piece A.

and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is 2-- 1. In a hose clip. a tension piece having a portion thereof curved to conform with the contour of the hoseand having openings 1n the ends thereof. a hose embracing band having a curved portion and extended and substantially parallel ends engaging with the openings in the tension piece, one of the openings in said tension piece being disposed in a plane substantially tangential to the band and the other opening being disposed in a plane substantially radial oi the curved portionof the band. and means for tightening saidband.v
2. In a hose clip, a tension piece having a portion thereof 'cn'rved to conform to the contour of a hose and having openings in the ends thereof, and a recess communicating with one of "said openings, a hose embracin band having extended and substantially parallel ends, one end of said hoseembracing band being received in one of the openings of the tension piece and the recess communicating therewith and the other end. of the band being received in the other opening in the tension piece, the last mentioned opening being disposed in a plane substantially tangential to the band, and the first mentioned opening being disposed substantially parallel to the second mentioned opening, and means coacting with said band and tension piece to clamp them about a. hose.
3. In a hose clip, ahose embracing band curved to substantially conform with the contour ofa hose having one end extended substantially tangential thereto and having the other end turned and extended in substantially parallel relation to the first mentioned end, a tension piece having separate openings receiving the respective ends of "the band, the turned end of said band preventing disengagement of the latter "from the tension piece when applied to FLlIOSQ fAHCl iife'ans co-acting with the tangential end of theband to clamp the latter about a hose.

In a hose clip, a tension piece having a portion thereof curved to conform with the contour of the hose and having openings in the ends thereof, a hose embracing band having a curved portion and straigl'lt and substantially paral'iel ends engaging with the openings in the tension piece, permitting the latter to be slipped on and off of the ends of the band, one end of the band extending substantially radially and the other end tangentially of the curved portion thereof and means for tightening said band.
