This invention relates to improvements in dispenser applicators for lip range and the like.
The principal objects of the invention are directed to the provision of novel dispensing applicator device for applying lip rouge which is characterized by its simplicity-in construction and efiiciency in operation and is-accomplished by'the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter to be more fully described.
With the foregoing and "various other novel features and advantages and other objects of my invention as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in cer tain novel features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more particularly pointed out in the claims hereunto annexed and more fully described and referred to in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein:
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal view partly in section and partly in elevation of a lip rouge dispenser applicator embodying the novel features of the invention; I
Fig. 2 is a sectional view on 'the iine 2 -2 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. '4 is aside elevational view ofthe applicator tip.
Referring now to the drawings more in detail, the invention will be fully described.
A barrel '2 is provided which is in the form of a tube and has a lower end portion 4 which is preferably reduced in diameter. The barrelprovides a chamber or container'for rouge and the upper end thereof is internally threaded to receive a threaded lower end of a ferrule member 6, as
shown. I
The ferrule '6 is prere'r'aery tastier in form and it has an applicator 8 secured therein in some suitable manner. A removab e. cap I'll fits over the upper end of the ferrule '6 Spas "to enclose the applicator 8. The aspire-aim is preferably made from yieldable material such as rubber or a rubber composition. Said applicator in the preferred form of the invention has an outer non-porous peripheral portion I -Z and an inner relatively more porous portion! which 'isprovided with an aiki'al bore "[6. The innerpb rtion may be of sponge rubber. v
The applicator 8 is slightly Sil'ildabl'e and its outer end is concavea at I 8 shown, to provide opposite peripheral p'oints fli rouge is carried in the bore 22 of the barrel and it may be inserted therein in the formof a stick through the upper end of the barrel when'the ferrule 6 is removed by unscrewing therefrom.
a: claims. (01. 1224831) The range is'ior'ced upwardly in the barrel and through the passageway l6 :in the applicator 8 by means to be described. The construction will be such that the desired small amount of rouge will be emitted from the passageway 46 to the concaved end of the applicator.
The curvature of the end of the applicator preferably will be such as to provideone prmore points such as 2! With the barrel held in the hand the rouge on the end of the applicator may be readily applied to the lips. The points 20 :provide means for defining the area or shape of the rouge on the lip as the applicator is drawn thereacross.
The lower portion 1 of the barrel 2 is internally screw-threaded and a propeller 2-4 which is externally threaded is in screwthreaded engagement therewith. The said propeller 24 is preferably tubular inform and a member 26 is se= cured in any convenient manner .to the upper end thereof. Said member may take any form and :a piston -28 which may be in the form of a yieldable cup washer has a washer -30 therein. A screw or rivet 32 secures the members 26, 28 and .30 together whereby the piston is secured to the upper end of the propeller. I
A tubular operating member or sleeve 34is arranged for telescopic movement relative to the barrel and it has a lower wall 36 which is provided with an' opening around the propeller 24., .as shown. A lip or lips such as 38 are disposed in "a notch or notches 40 at the lower end of the pro- .peller see Fig. 3. A lowerclosure 42 is internally threaded and is in screw-threaded engagement with the lower end of the propeller, to secure the operating member and propeller in engagemer t and to close the open end of the propeller, Q V f With lip rouge within the chamber 22 of the barrel, the-operating member may :be rotated in one direction so as to turn the propeller and thereby move the piston upwardly sothat it acts on the rouge in thechamber and forces i t upwardly to and through the applicator.
The screw threadson the propeller member 2} areiprefer'ably of relatively fine pitch, say iforty threads per inch or so. This makes it necessary to rotatethe operating member through a considerable angle in order to obtainendwi'se motion of the piston whereby .asinall amount only or therooge is fiio'rce'd upwardly. i i
"The propeller, as stated, is preferably tubular iniorin and by removing th'elo'we-r closure 42 a vial of perfume .orthe lilce may be inserted therein o'r it may be used -;for;enclosing other objects. -'I.-he operating member '34 1 is of course, rotated in one -direction to dispense the rouge. Whe'n the chamber is empty the operating member may be rotated in an opposite direction to retract the piston so that with the ferrule 8 removed rouge may be inserted in the barrel in the form of a stick or otherwise.
It will be observed that the device is constructed from relatively few components so as to be simple in form and economical of manufacture while at the same time efficient in operation.
The invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the essential characteristics thereof. Hence, the present embodiments are therefore to be considered in all respects merely as being illustrative and not as being restrictive, the scope of the invention being indicated by the appended claims rather than by the foregoing description, and all modifications and variations as fall within the meaning and purview and range of equivalency of the appended claims are therefore intended to be embraced therein.
