Reynolds, Banjoursoi11`e)vv.` va; .eppiioauo April l29, 194e;` serialiNo...terrazzi` This linvention relates `to `nail pt'ililers` and more particularly-to 'atool which -is Yespecially :adapted `for-nseinpullingfrrails from gutters.
` Heretofore it* has `been the practice `of tinners *inextract-ing nails from gutters to use two hamniers,4 byplacing one clawhammer astrideo the nairand striking the-set hammeriwith a second "lrammen` This practice hasl proven to be dangerousl tothe workman 'who usually is Vstanding near the top of a ladder and is required to `use bfoth hands for thehammer. Also this method veryfrequently.damages the roof. `While installing new gutters, due to the limited space the workmanlhas for-swinging the hammer, many nails are bentand it isnecessaryto remove these beritinails `Using the two Vvham-mermethod, often damage done to the inner wallsof the newg-ut` ter. i `It 'isfanfobjeot of this inventionto provide a tool `forA pulling nails Vfrom `gutters which may be usedby only one handof theloperator thus permitting him to support himselfon a ladder witlrhis freehand.
Another object of this invention is to provide a nail pulling tool for 'removing nails from gutters, which is adapted `to grasp the nail or tubing spacer used on gutter nails `and is Aprovided with an extension below. the nail gripping section to be used as a fulcrum which may bear against a reinforced part of the gutter; y y l Still 'another object of this invention is to Iprovide a nail puller especially adapted for pulling nails from a gutter which may readily be used by a tinner and which will not damage the walls of the gutter.
A further object of this invention is to provide a gutter nail puller which is formed with clamping means for grasping the nail and spacer in gutters and a fulcrum extending from the end of the tool, the fulcrum being formed with claws `as a standard claw hammer orV crowbar, thus providing a tool which may be used for pulling nails in a, gutter and also for pulling nails in other places as straps and wire hangers on some types of gutter.

The cover plate 21 is fastened 'to the head I6 by screws 28 or other suitable fastening devices. The lower arm of the U-shaped cover plate 21 overhangs theedge of the fixed jaw`2l and is beveled to form a knife edge 29 for gripping the nail II or spacer I4 when themovable jaw 25 is pressed down.
A U-shaped claw member 30 is fixed to the lower end of the head I 6 and extends outwardly and downwardly from the side of the head on which the cover plate 21 is attached to provide a fulcrum for the tool when in use. Then by moving the handle I5 about the member 3l] Aas a fulcrum the nail may readily be removed. For` removing .nails-,which are not in such confined spaces, the claws 3l of the member 30 may be used in a conventionaly manner.
