SPECIFICATION forming part of Iietters Patent No. 244,703, dated July- 19, 1881.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, GHARLEs WHITE and GEORGE WHITE, citizens of the United States, residing at Washington, District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Turn-Tables; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to that class of turntables which are used for turning horse-cars; and the nature thereof is in providing a certain construction for the ing the wear at the pivot; also, in cone-rollers operating upon an independent frame; also, in the construction of the east well or foundation-plate for the cone-rollers to work on, all

Referring to the drawings and letters of reference marked thereon, Figure l is a sectional side elevation of the improved turn-table. Fig. 2 is a plan of the top of the turn-table. Fig. 3 is an inverted plan of the well or foundationplate, showing the spokes; Fig. 4, plan view of a portion of the roller-frame. Fig. 5 is an enlarged sectional elevation of the pivot and its connections. Fig. 6 is a plan of the collarplate, which is bolted to the surface turn-table on the under side. Fig. 7 is a plan of the standard which supports and receives the steel pivot. Fig. Sis a plan showing the face of the steel pivot, also a cross-section of the steel pivot enlarged. Fig. 9 represents one of the armsof the independent spider-frame and the position of the journal for the cone-roller.

At the outer ends of the arms D are the conerollers D. These conerollers D the ring and support the turn-table face-plate E, having a beveled face, E On the under side of the turn-table face-plate E is bolted the collar-plate E, and this collar-plate E is of sufficient depth at e to allow this part c to overlap upon the pivot-standard Bthat is, when the plate E is resting on the cone-rollers D their diameter is so arranged that the collarplate E. shall overlap the pivot-standard B, and thereby act as the point or collar to retain the plate E in position and allow it to revolve on the pivot-standard B.
In the projection c of the collar-plate E is plaoedthe flat turned steel plate F. This plate rests upon the steel pivot-pointO, and is'held down on that point by a set-screw, G, in the face-plate E.

These washers regulate the length of the projection of the steel pivot O, and can be made to take up or provide for the wear and tear of the pivot-point O. The operation of the invention is well understood. A car is run on the turn-table, and by revolving the face-plate the car is turned. The weight is very equally distributed on the conerollers D and by complying with the geometrieal lines m m we cause the turn-table to revolve very easily and freely.
Having thus described. the construction and operation of our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is as follows:
1. In a turn-table provided with an independent roller or spider frame and foundationplate with pivot-center, the independent pivotcenter, substantially as herein shown.
2. The combination, in a turn-table faceplate, E, of the collar-plate E and set-screw operating on the plate, and pivotpoint C in standard B,on and around which they revolve, substantially for the purpose set forth.
3. In a pivot-standard, B, the square recess for the pivot-point, provided with a pivot, 0, having washers or taking-up wearing parts, for the purpose set forth. 7
