SASH-FASTENER.

Specification of Letters Patent No. 24,450, dated June 21,l 1859-.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, A. H. EMERY, civil engineer', of Mexico, county of Oswego, and State of New York, have invented a new, useful, and Improved Vindow Spring and Sash Fastener; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and'exact descripw tion thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, all of which make a part of this specification.

The nature of my invention consists in providing for windows a cheap and durable fastener manufactured vfrom drawn pipe, and constructed in the manner as hereinafter described.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe its construction, which is as follows, to wit:

Figure 1 shows the entire fastener ready for use, Fig. 2, shows the construction and arrangement of each and every part thereof, in which (a) is the tube containing the coiled spring (f) and the knob rod (c), which rod passes through the end (g) and the end (lz) opposite to the end TheV coiled spring (f) passes around the rod (c), and between the ends (g and L) aforesaid. The tube (a) is made of drawn pipe of any size required. The head or end (g) is put in the tube in the manner as a nut and screw. The end is lfitted within the tube (a) and then secured by means of riveting down upon it the end of the tube (a). This tube may be made of any kind of material that will answer the purpose required.

Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Pat ent, is-

l. The construction of a window sash spring and fastener of drawn pipe with the end (g), and the end (It) arranged and fastened therein as herein described.

2. I, also, cla-im the construction of the knob rod or bolt (c) as and for the purposes herein described and set forth.
