The locking key is adapted to be embedded in the body of the clamping bars so when the key is in locked position it is flush with the outside surface of the bars. The edges of my garment support are rounded and smooth to prevent any undue wear on the garment supported by the hanger and provide a smooth light-weight hanger which may be made in any desired color to make the same very attractive.

The U-shaped slidable locking key 2| is formed with longitudinally extending rib portions 24 on the short arm 20 and the long arm 22. These ribs fit into the undercut recess formed in the respective slots I9 and 23 to hold the U-shaped locking member 2| in a manner to rigidly connect the front end of the bar I! to the back bar I 6. It will also be apparent that the Sliding locking key 2I will keep the free end of the bar I! in line with the back bar I6.

Thus I provide a hanger A made of plastic or nonmetallic material wherein the shoulder arms and the back clamp bar are formed integral. The back bar I6 has the slot 23 formed in one end adjacent the free end of the arm I! and the free end of the arm IT has a slot I9 formed therein to receive the short end or like of the slidable U-shaped clamping member 2|. The clamping bar I1 is also formed of plastic or nonmetallic material and is hingedly connected at I8 to the bar I6.

Thus I provide a garment hanger A with the clamping bars I6 and IT between which a skirt or pants legs may be engaged to hold the same while a jacket or coat may be hung on the shoulder arms Ill. The U-shaped slidable locking key keeps the clamping members I6 and I! closed and locked together to hold the garment between the bars I6 and IT.

The key 2| for lockin the clamping bars I6 and I I is formed 'with a knob 25 which permits the key 2| to be slidinto open position as illustrated in dotted outline in Figure 1.

My hanger A is adapted to be made out of moulded plastic in any color and is simple in construction. The clamping bars I6 and I I are adapted to hold the garments like a skirt or a pair of pants while the shoulder arms ID will support a jacket or coat.

I claim:

l. A garment hanger including, shoulder arms,

a horizontal bar integrally connecting the lower shank of a hook, a hook for supporting said hanger and extending through said enlarged head portion, a horizontal clamping back bar member integral with the lower ends of said shoulder members, a front clamping bar member pivoted on one end to said back bar member, a shoulder recess formed in the free end of said front bar member and in the complemental endof said back bar member, and a slidable key member having rib portions formed on a portion of the outer edge thereof and adapted to be received by said recess for locking said front and back bar members together and adapted to hold the same in line to provide a skirt and garment clamp support along the base of said hanger. v

A garment hanger including, a pair of upwardly convergent shoulder arms joined at an enlarged portion, a hook pivotally connected to said enlarged portion, a horizontal bar member connecting the lower ends of said shoulder arms, a complemental front bar member pivoted on one end to said back bar member, a slidable key having shoulders formed on a portion thereof, re-

cesses formed in the free ends of said back and front bar members adapted to receive said slidable key and lock said back and front bar members together and hold the same in line, and a knob formed on said key projecting in a manner to provide a finger eng ging means whereby said key can be operated to move the same into unlocked and locked position for said bars.

4. A garment hanger formed of nonmetailic material including, shoulder portions and a clamping means for garments at the base of said hanger, said clamping means including a pair of horizontal clamping bars hinged together, underout slots formed in the free ends of said bars, said bars having their opposed clamping surfaces in a vertical position and a U shaped slidable key having shoulders adapted to be received by said undercut slots in the ends of said clamping bars and having a projecting knob for engagement to operate said key.

5. A garment hanger including shoulder arms joined at their top ends, a back bar connecting the lower ends of said shoulder arms, a front.

bar hinged to one end of said back bar to form a clamp, a U shaped slidable locking key, and means for allowing said locking key to slidabiy fit into the free end of said front bar and the end of said back bar to lock said bars in a predetermined position.
