With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter more fully described and. pointed out in the claim, it being understood that changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of .parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.
In the accompanying drawings the preferred forms of the invention have been shown.
In said drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a preferre'd em- .bodiment of our invention;
Figura 2 is a front elevation of the same; and
Figure 3 is a sectional view on the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Similar reference characters refer to parts throughout the several views.
Inthe drawing the numeral I denotes an upright container which has a stationary rear wall 2- and stationaryside walls 3. The top and the front of the container l are normall'y closed by similar tirefinterionfofithefcontaine I2'';aecetsible.A
Ift'the lowerrporitimof'"thescontainer: I Ithene issprovidedfiWvithslonigtudinalf;'horizontalgrooves 715:: 1. The axial portion of the dramat-'is womiected assembly-L-work of-f ourffnewwan'iimproved gdevice, but it will berunderstoodzithattlfe=drum-6an'be connected'to tzhe'fknobsoutside ;of` the 'container alsobyanyiotherisuitabiemeansze and'swhoseuppersportionissbulgcd*outwa-rdly' is secured to the inner side of the rear wall 2 in such a manner that its wedge-shaped portion is closely above the drum 8. The upper portion of the block IO is provided With an inclined slot ll which is in alignment with. and has the same inclination as, the inclined front, surface |2 of the block I 0. A plate ll, whose lower portion .is`
rolled rearwardly and incloses a pin 1-5, is provided with slots IG in its upper portion, and the latter is slidable in the slot II. Pins H are extended through the upper portion of the block IO and the slots |6 as well as into the rear wall 2, so as to limit the movement of the plate Ill and to secure the block IO to the rear wall 2 as well. A slide 20 having an upwardly curved lower portion is secured to the lower section of the casing l and is extended into the'latter up to the juncture of the block IO 'and the rear wall 2, as may be seen in Figure 3. The slide 20 is as wide as ;the container, I,V :but from that portion of the ,slide 20 tothecontai'nei; I.
The upper' portion of'ithe rear wall 2 preferably is provided' with a'han'ger 23 for the purpose of facilitating the fastening of the device to a wall.
The operation of our new and improved dispenser is as follows: When that portion of the container l which is above the drum 5 hazbeen filled, for instance with matches which are hol-izontally arranged therein, the device is supend'- ed from a nail (not shown) on a wall; theii''the matohes as well as the :lower portion of thefplate, M, by means ofe gravity are forced against' the periphery of the drum 8, and at least one match will normally lay in one of the grooves 1; upon turning one of the knobs 8 in a clock-Wise dire tion, the rotation of the drum dowill move th'fe aesaae? lin' the lower portion of said container and conmatch which 'is in the groove 1 towards the slide nected to knobs which are outside of said side 2B, and after a movement of the drum B of about'l walls,a block'being secured to said rear wall adone hundred and eighty degrees, the match will fall out of the groove 'l into the upwardly ourved' lower end portion of the slide 20, from where it can -be taken withoutppening the lid 4. The
lower portion of the plate M, which normally'rests against the'drurn 6; a'cts' as an automatic shutter preventing thatl'm'ore than one match at aitime be ejected. Should som'e of the matches accidentally be in ai' position in which theytcannot glide properly into a'groove T, the knobV 8 is turned first in an anticlockwise direction and theni ina. clockwise direction; which will be sufiicientfifor bringing the'matches which are adjoining the drum 6 into the proper position.. i
' If the-device is to be usedV for' ejecting and storing other Varticles-than matches,` the only alteration necessary 'is the exchange of the'drum 6, so that a drumwhose grooves 1 are so dimensloned that they can hold onei cigarette Aor similar article is used. f i w Since certain changes'may'be made inthe above article and different V'embodiments of the invention'could :be made without-,departing'fromthe scope thereof, it is'intended that all matter con-'- tained in the above description or shown in the jacent said drum and having a wedge-shaped lower portion and' an outwardly bulged upper portiqn into which extends an inclined slot which is in alignment with the inclined outer surface of said wedge-shaped portion, a plate having a rearwardly'rolled lower edge'portion'and being verticaily slidable ion the inclined surface of said block and adapted to rest' normally against said drum, and a downwardly inclined slide having an upwardly ourved lower portion and being secured to and protruding over the lower section o'fsaid container adjacent said drum and extending within said oontainer up to the juncture of said block and said rear wall, the width of said drum, said block and said plate being slightly less than the distance between the innersides of said side walls, all substantially as described.
