It is an object of my invention to provide an upright standard or support having a bent portion intermediate the ends therein. The floor I supports the counter andstool construction. The counter 2 i maintained in posi tion rm the fi'oor :by ;a strip of tmaterial 3 extendting the iength of the acoun'ter thereby preventing any horizontal movement in :any 'direction. In this connection it is to be observed that brackets having arms at right angles to each tether tnot *s'hown would be used in lieu of the strip 13. "The strip 3 :is :secured to the floor :by suitable means and may also be secured to the front wall 4 of the counteriif desired. The section 22 of the standard located below 55 the bend 8 thereof is provided with a, footrest 23 3 secured transversely and horizontally relative to said standard. A saddle 24 is provided for each section 22 and is provided with a recess on its upper portion to receive the rail. The rail and saddle as well as the section 22 are provided with aligned apertures to receive the carriage bolt 25 provided with a nut 28 whereby the rail is secured in a suitably spaced position from both the floor I and the inclined shield 11.

It is contemplated that the standard 1 may be made of tubular material but it is obvious that solid materials may be used if so desired.-;

The main support for the standard is provided by the bracket arm I6. The arm and inj clined shield are provided with openings to receive the standard and to support the same in combination with an upright stool construction spaced relation from the fioor thereby-provid- Q ing ample space for the operation of the mop broom or other implement for cleaning the floor and the inclined shield.

It is noted that the angle between the arms I6 and I9 is substantially 45. but it may be desired to increase this angle and thereby increase the pitch of the inclined shield or ramp IT. The shield or ramp is preferably made of sections of wood, but may be made of other suitable materials, such as, metal or plastic composition of any suitable variety.

Figure 1 discloses an ordinary floor construction supported by joists 30.. The joists are engaged transversely by a strip 3| which receives the bolts having the nuts 32. This construction clearly indicates that the standard 1 and the brackets I8 are firmly secured to the floor construction.

When assembling the'standard l with the bracket I8 the lower end may be inserted through the openings I4 and i5 before being flattened; then the end may be flattened if desired, as shown in Figures 3 and 4.

Triangular closure pieces (not shown) may be provided for the open ends formed by the inclined guide in conjunction withthe front of the counter and the fioor. Such pieces may be secured in position by any suitable fastening means/' Having fully described my invention, including the operation thereof, what I claim is:

'1. A clean sweep counter and stool construction, especially adapted for use in restaurants, lunch rooms and the like; said construction comprising a counter, a stool and a support therefor, said counter being provided with means to prevent horizontal movement in any direction, said stool having an upright support defining a socket in its upper end for a rotatable stool seat, said upright support having a bent portion intermediate the ends thereof, means on the lower end of the upright support for securing it to a floor, in combinationrwith an inclined bracket arm forming a supporting means for said up-.

transversely and horizontallyvarranged footrest suitably spaced from the inclined shield.

3. The construction set forth in claim 1, in:
