SCRUBBING-BRUSH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 242,106, dated May 31, 1881.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LUZEENE M. BoLLEs,
I acitizen of the-United States, residing at 163 Canal street, in the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tubular Rubber Scrubbing-Brushes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a view of the under side of my brush, showing the arrangement of the rubber tubes; and Fig.2 is a sectional view ofthe scrubber, showing the rubber tubes inserted in the wood-holder.

The object of my invention is to make a scrubhing-brush in such a manner that when the brush is drawn across a surface to be cleaned thepbending ofthe tubular rubbers will expel the air from the inside of the tubes, and as they lstraighten up form suckers, thereby extracting the impurities and dirt from the article worked upon.
Any number of tubes may be used. ln my drawings I have shown one larger central tube with a sponge in same, but more than one may be used, if preferred. My object in using a larger central tube is for a twofold purpose. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A scrubbing-brush composed of a perforated block provided with projecting flexible tubular rubbers, substantially in the Inanner and for the purpose described.
