My invention relates to childrens garments and has for its primary object the provision of a combination of related inner and outer garments which are neat in appearance, inexpensive to manufacture, and which may be changed, in part or in whole, with a minimum of effort.
Another object of my invention is the provision of an inexpensive and easily changed childrens diaper comprising an inner absorbent soaker and a hammock-like diaper cover.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a pair of loose fitting overall-like trousers which, in combination with elastic suspenders, facilitates the removal of. the diaper without any of the upper and outer garments being first removed. I
Another object of my invention is the provision of a novel combination of children's diaper and outer clothing which simplifies toilet training.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a novel combination of a diaper and outer trousers whereby it is possible to change said diaper either from the front or rear.
The above and other objects of my invention will become obvious from the following written description and from the attached drawings.
Referring to the drawings wherein like characters indicate like parts throughout the several views:
Fig. l is a perspective showing the front of the childs novel outer garment;
Fig. 2 is a perspective showing the rear view of the outer garment;
Fig. 3 is a perspective which shows the front flap portion of the trousers in an open position;
Fig. t is a perspective, taken from the front, showing a child wearing my novel diaper holder or cover;
Fig. 5 is a side view illustrating the manner of lowering the back section of the outer trousers;
Fig. 6 is a side view similar to Fig. 5 showing the manner of removal of my novel diaper from the rear;
Fig. 7 is a frontal perspective illustrating the dropping down of the front flap of the trousers preparatory of removing the under diaper from the front;
Fig. 8 illustrates the manner of removing the novel outer garment from the childs legs by stretching the elastic suspenders;
Fig. 9 is similar to Fig. 8 but shows both the childs legs removed from the outer trousers;
Fig. 10 illustrates the method of removal of the novel diaper cover from the front so as to get to the absorbent diaper itself;
Fig. 11 is a top plan view of the novel diaper cover;
Fig. 12 is a top plan view of the novel diaper;
Fig. 13 illustrates a modified form of elastic suspenders; i
Fig. 14 illustrates a gathered waist to which the elastic suspenders have been sewed;
Fig. 15 illustrates the preferred method of securing the front and back portions of the overall-like pants to the front of the elastic suspender means, to wit: by means of double buttonholes; and
Fig. 16 illustrates a modified form for accomplishing the same objects by means of button and a hook and eye.
Referring more specifically to the drawings, the numeral I indicates a loose fitting pair of overall-like trousers with a downwardly opening front flap .2 and a downwardly opening rear section 3. Front flap 2 is provided with a pair of spaced, preferably reinforced, openings 4 along its upper edge, whereas the downwardly opening section 3 is preferably provided with a pair of spaced, reinforced openings 5 along its rear upper edge and also with a pair of fasteners, preferably in the form of hooks 5a on its upper edge on either side immediately adjacent the front flap 2. A pair of conventional two strap elastic suspenders, preferably crossed in the back, are illustrated by the numeral 6. Front ends of suspenders 6 contain fasteners 1, preferably in the form of buttons or the like and also eyelets or the like la. To the opposite ends of suspenders 5 are secured button-like fasteners l'b.
Referring particularly to Figs. 4, 5, 9, 1!.) and 11, I provide an elongated diaper holder or cover 8, which may be cut to conform with the general outline of the wearer. if desired. The upper rear end of diaper cover 1, as shown, is secured at 9 to the central portion of abelt 10, the free ends of which are provided at ll with fasteners, preferably and as shown in the form of hooks. Belt is is preferably provided with'an elastic insert at 9. The upper end of an elongated diaper cover 8 is provided with fastener means, preferably and as shown in the form of spaced loops it. A pair of laterally spaced fasteners, preferably. and as shown in the form of eyes !3, are securedto the front portion of the elongated diaper cover 8 at a point approximately midway between the crotch and the loop portions l2. Secured to the inside of the back portion of cover 3, immediately below the portion 9. in a cured to the cover 8 by pressing together the fasteners M and I8 so that the waterproof member 17 is between the cover 8 and the soaker 16. The belt It is then put about the child as shown in Figs. 4 and 5 so that the hook members and H on the free ends thereof may be secured to the eyelets {3 on the front portion of the diaper cover 3. Elastic suspenders 6 are then placed over the childs shoulders in a conventional manner and the buttons or other fasteners i are inserted through the loops I9 of the absorbent diaper l and the loops [2 of the diaper cover 8.
The loose fitting overall-like trousers are then pulled up over the childs legs in the conventional manner so that the openings 4 of the flap 2 are in alignment with buttons 1, which may be inserted through said openings 4. Button-like fasteners lb at th rear of suspenders 5 are then threaded through reinforced openings 5 and hooks 5a are secured to eyelets la, as shown particularly in Fig. 16.
Fig. 15 shows a modification of the structure shown in Fig. 16, in which the extreme outer top edges of rear section 3 are provided with reinforced button holes 20. In this form the fastener or button 1' is run through both the opening 4 in the front flap 2 and the opening 29 in the rear section 3.
Where the elastic suspenders 2|, illustrated in Fig, 13, are used in place of the conventional elastic suspenders 8 no attachment is made between th suspenders 2| and the rear or central portion of section 3 0i the trousers. It will be noted that in this novel set of suspenders the front ends thereof contain reinforced openings 22 whereas only the opposite or back ends carry the button-like fasteners 23. Loops l9 and I2 of diaper l6 and diaper cover 8, respectively, are secured to buttons 23. Also, buttons 23 may be run through th openings 4 in the flap in the structure. If desired, even the openings of type 29, shown in Fig. 15, may be secured to buttons However, I have shown an eyelet 24 where hooks of the type 541., shown in Fig. 16, are utilized.
Changes in the specific form of my invention I as herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of my invention.
