Application February ,6, 1945, Serial No. 576,428 2 Claims. (01.223-88) This invention relates to clothes hangers, and more particularly to such hangers adapted to accommodate clothes on a hanger.
' One of the objects of this invention is the provision of a lapel holder in operative relation with a clothes hanger to properly position a coat disposed on such hanger.
Another object of this invention is the provision of a device adapted to be attached to a clothes hanger and engage the lapels of a coat so as to properly position said coat upon said hanger.
Other objects and features will more fully appear from the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is an illustrative partial sectional view showing the invention as used with a coat and Fig. 2 a front vertical view of the invention.
Referring to the drawinga clothes hanger l is provided with the usual hook 2 from which extend shoulders 3 and 4 that connect a support 5.
A lapel holder and coat positioner 6 consists of a pair of tubular struts l and 8 adapted to maintain rolled lapels as well as position said coat and torespectively engage arms 9 and I having braces Ii and I2 adjoining a loopl3.
Loop I 3' is positioned about the neck of hook 2 and the braces II and I2 respectively in the rear of shoulders 3 and 4.
The hanger and lapel device are preferably made out of metal, preferably the type of wire well known in the clothes hanger art.
The lapel device is resilient and the arms 9 and I0 are positioned so as to cause the struts 1 and 8 to fit under the lapel of a coat (see Fig. 1) and cause the latter to assume a position so that the edge of the flap of the coathaving the buttons thereon will be substantially parallel with the edge of the flap of the coat having buttonholes' therein.
Coats now sent out by people practicing the art of cleaning and pressing are sometimes buttoned to provide further security upon the hanger, and under such conditions the coat is not properly positioned so as to maintain the normal shape that tends to preserve the creases and form best suitable for wearing.
It is to be understood that the lapel holder may be secured to the clothes hanger or may be detachable as illustrated and made of any suitable material.
Having described this invention, what is claimed 1s:
1. The combination of a coat hanger consisting of a hook secured to oppositely arranged shoulder members, joined by a basal support, of a lapel holder consisting of a loop passing around the rear of said hook and then extending oppositely and downwardly around front portions of said shoulder members and. then extending upwardly around re'ar portions of said shoulder members to form rounded braces, each of said braces having an arm depending therefrom and to which is respectively secured struts adapted to engage the lapels of a coat for positioning the latter.
2. The combination of a coat hanger consisting of a hook secured to oppositely arranged shoulder members, joined by a basal support, of a lapel holder consisting of a loop passing around the rear of said hook and then extending oppositely and downwardly around front portions of said shoulder members and then extending upwardly around rear portions of said shoulder members to form rounded braces, each of said braces having an arm depending therefrom, each of said arms comprising an angularly extending upper lapel engaging part, a downwardly extending part and a strut secured to said downwardly extending part, said strut extending substantially parallel to said downwardly extending part.
