UNITED. STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANN E. ISHAM, OF WEST TROY, NEW YORK.
CANDY-PACKAGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.'240,137, dated April 12, 1881.
Application filed November 4, 1880.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANN E. ISHAM, of West Troy, in the county of Albany and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Candy-Package, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved candy-package which is simple in construction, ornamental in appearance, can be easily filled, can be closed effectually, and can be manufactured at a very low price.
The invention consists in a candy-package in the shape of a cone provided with an aperture in its bottom closed by a swinging or sliding gate, and with an openingin front having flaps and closed by gauze or netting, the whole adapted to represent an army-tent with flying colors.
In the accompanying drawings, Figural is a perspective view of my improved candypackage. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the upper side of the bottom of the same.
The package A is made of paper, linen, sheet metal, rubber, or any other suitable material. and has the shape of a cone. The bottom B of this cone is provided with an aperture, 0, which can be closed by means of a gate, D, pivoted to the inner side of the bottom B, and which is provided with a stud or projection, E, which passes through the aperture 0, thus permitting the gate to be moved from below. However, the gate may be pivoted in any other manner, or may be arranged to slide. The
(ModeL) cone is provided with a flag, F, at the top, and is ornamented to represent an army-tent. The cone is cut open in front, and two flaps, G G, of the material are bent to the side to form an opening through which the contents may be seen, and at the same time represent an entrance to the tent.
To prevent the candies, 850., contained in the package from dropping out and to display the contents, the above opening is filled in with a piece of gauze or wire-netting, H.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A candy-package made substantially as herein shown and described, consisting of a conical receptacle having an aperture in its bottom, and being provided with a gate, as set forth.
2. The combination, with the conicalcandypackage A, of the gate D, pivoted to the bottom B of the package, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
3. In a candy-package, the combination, with the conical receptacle A, having a piece cut out in one side, of a piece of netting, H, substantially as herein shown and described, whereby the contents are displayed, as set forth.
ANN E. ISHAM.
