, This invention relates" to improvements in multistack weft replenishing-magazines and it is the-general object of the invention to provide an improved end plate for the tips of bobbins so constructed as to facilitate placement of the bobbins inzthejmagazine without risk of damaging the weft ends extending from the bobbins.
In my prior Patent No. 2,128,974 I have shown a two-stackrocking magazine having inner and outer; bobbin supporting andguiding-plates for supporting apair of horizontally spaced stacks of reserve-bobbins which feed down guideways by gravity towardtransfer position. Looms of the type set forth in that patent are customarily sup pliedwithpneumatic thread holders which attract the weft ends of bobbins in the magazine When: a bobbin is placed in the magazine by hand it:is usualto hold it with the-left hand and lead its weftiend to the thread holder with the righttion-to provide the outside plate of the magazine; withsmoothcontinuous thread'guiding surfaces so related to each otherthat the weft end can slide fromathe top down to the bottom of theplate without dangerof breakage or abrasion. With these andother object in view which will appear as the description proceeds, my invention resides in th'ecombination and arrangement of parts I hereinafter described and set forth;

Referring particularly to Figs; 1 1 and :3; I h'ave shown a loom breast beam ID on which is mounted the foot I I of a magazine designated generally at M. The foot supports a pivot stud i2on which Y butts l 6 0f the bobbins B and-B in the front and back stacks. Stop lugs I1 and I8 engage adjusting screws: l9 and 20,- respectively, to limit angular movement of the plate l3 when the latter is rocked by mechanism not shown herein butset forth inthe aforesaid patent. Included in the magazine are: front and back tie rods 20 and 2|, respectively, which are secured to the p1atel3 and project outw'ardly away from the center of the loom;

In the preferredform of the invention theupper end of the guide wires are received .innotches while, in the modified form the upper end of the guide wires enter the under side ofthe lugs. The curved surface 19 can be used. in both forms of the invention.
From the foregoing it will be seen that-I have provided an improved bobbin tip guiding end plate for a multistackmagazine. wherein the tops of the guideways are connected by a bobbin rail and an upwardly extending wall for the purpose of engaging the bobbin tips and preventing them from moving out of proper relation with respect to the end plate when being inserted in the bobbin stacks. The rail extends from the inner wall 3! across to the other inner wall 36, while the wall 50 extends from the outer wall 39 across to the rear outer wall 35. The wall 58 and rail are preferably formed integral with the end plate E and join the upper ends of the front and back guideways not only for the purposes already men tioned, but also to reinforce them. It will also be seen that the wall has a rearwardly facing hook 55 which prevents movement of a thread in contact with guide surface 52 across the top of the end plate to the forward guide surface 5| when bobbins are being placed in the rear stack. Furthermore, the upper ends of the guide wires are attached to the end plate in such manner that they present no horizontal surface which can interfere with downward movement of the weft ends. Thus, in the preferred form the notches 61 receive the horizontal end 68 of the wires, while in the modified form of the invention the wires enter the under side of their respective lugs. In both forms of the invention the lugs and adjacent parts of the outer walls 30 and 35 may be formed with the curved surfaces 19.
Having thus described my invention it will be seen that changes and modifications may be made therein by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention and I do not wish to be limited to the details herein disclosed, but what I claim is:
1. In a weft replenishin magazine having front and back horizontally spaced substantially Vertical stacks of reserve bobbins, an end plate for the tipsof the bobbins having vertical tip guideways, a vertical wall extending across the top of the end plate and joining the guideways' and having front and back thread guiding surfaces along the top thereof extending from the outside of one guideway across to the outside of of the other guideway, and a thread guide associated with each guideway and extendin downwardly from the corresponding thread guiding surface.
2. In a weft replenishing magazine having two horizontally spaced substantially vertical stacks of reserve bobbins, an end plate for the tips of the bobbins, front and back pairs of vertical walls on said plate, each pair having an inner and an outer wall, a rail extending continuously from one inner wall to the other inner wall and having the front and rear ends thereof inclined downwardly to the front and back inner walls, respectively, a web extending above the rail and from one outer wall to the other outer wall and having a top, threadguiding; edgednclineddcwnrwardly towardeach outer wall, anda threadhook on the top ofsaicl. webvfacing rearwardly to pre vent a thread onthe rearpart of said edge-from sliding along said edge to the front. partqthereof. 3. In a weft'replenishingmagazine having two horizontally. spaced substantially vertical stacks of: reserve bobbins, anend plate for the tips of the bobbins, front and backpairs. of vertical walls on. said plate, each pair havingvan-ainnerand an outer wall and a web-joining. said walls andhav ing. av thread guiding edge: formed. infront; and rear sections, the front sectionextending upwardlyand rearwardly from-the outer wall .of the frontipair' of Walls and thjezrear section extending upwardly. and forwardly from-thev outer 'wallof the back pair of walls. In a weft replenishing magazine having: two horizontally spaced substantiallyi vertical stacks of reserve bobbins, an end plate for the tips of the bobbins, front and back pairs of vertical walls on said plate, each pair having an inner and an outer wall, a web joining said walls and having a thread guiding edge formed in front and rear sections, the front section extending upwardly and rearwardly from the outer wall of the front pair of walls and the rear section extending upwardly and forwardly from the outer wall of the back pair of walls, and a rearwardly facing hook between said sections preventing a thread from sliding from the rear section of said thread guiding section forwardly to the front section thereof.
5. In a weft replenishing magazine having two horizontally spaced substantially vertical stacks of reserve bobbins, an end plate for the tips of the bobbins, front and back pairs of vertical walls on said plate, each pair having an inner and an outer wall, a web joining said walls and having a thread guiding edge formed in front and rear sections, the front section extending upwardly and rearwardly from the outer wall of the front pair of walls and the rear section extending upwardly and forwardly from the outer wall of the back pair of walls, a bobbin tip supporting rail joining the inner walls of said pairs of walls and below the level of said sections of said thread guiding edge, and a rearwardly facing hook between said sections above said rail preventing a thread from sliding from the rear section forwardly to the front section. 6. An end plate for a weft replenishing magazine, said plate having front and back spaced vertical bobbin tip guideways, a bobbin tip supporting rail extending across the upper end of the plate from the rear part of the front guideway to the front part of the back guideway, and a bobbin tip engaging wall extending upwardly from said rail and across the top of the plate from the front part of the front guideway to the rear part of the back guideway, said wall having the front end thereof inclined forwardly anddownwardly toward the front guideway and having the rear end thereof inclined rearwardly and downwardly toward the back guideway.

Ina weft replenishing magazine having a substantially vertical stack of reserve bobbins, an outer bobbin tip guiding end plate for said magazine having a vertical rear bobbin tip guidin wall, a lug on the outer part of the upper end of said wall, a thread guiding wire extending along said. wall to engagethe weft end of a bobbin in said magazine, said lug having a thread guiding surface, and the upper end of the wire being bent and entering said lug, said lug and bent end of the wardly from engagement with said surface to engagement' with said wire without engaging said bent end'of the latter. i
