In the operation of the device, starting with the parts in set position, a release is accomplished by depressing the trip member 21 and releasing downwardly effecting a resetting pressure on the spring. As the link reaches its lower position the latch member l5 reaches a position bringing the pin 20 opposite the offset*l9'-and the camming action of the upper wall of-the offset swings the link sidewise carrying the pin 20 into the offset and the upper end of the plate ll out from under V the lip 23, thus permitting the trip member to move downwardly into set position. Preferably-'- a spring 2 la is arranged between the latch member 15 and the trip member 21, this spring yieldingly tending to reset the trip member and th latch member.
v H H e In the modification shown in Figs. 4,5 and 6, the wringer and the release mechanism are similar to the wringer and release mechanism shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3 and in Figs. 7 and 8, except the sides of the bearing blocks extend below the shaft 1. The latch member |5a is not connected at the bottom as is the latch member [5 in Fig. l, and the top of the wringer in Figs. 4,5 and 8 is notched at 2a to give clearance for the pivot pins 20. The resetting mechanism comprises a toggle lever operating between the frame and the top bar. A link 32 of the toggle lever is piv; otally connected at-33 with the top bar. A link 34 is in the form of a wirebail, the ends of the bail being pivotally connected at 35 with the link 32., A cross member 34a of the bail extends through a strap 36 which is secured to the face of the side stil 2 providing a slot36a between the face of the stile and the strap. In a power wringer having a frame; rolls mounted in the frame; a pressure means for exerting pressure on the rolls; a pressure re-setting device for the pressure means whereby during resetting movement of the resetting device pressure is applied to the rolls; and a driving means for the rolls; the combination with the driving means, pressure means and resetting device of a safety release device for the pressure meanssaid release device comprising means taking over the pressure ofthe pressure; device from the re-setting device, said release device and resetting device operating independently o'f the driving means.

In a power wringer having a frame comprising a base and side stiles; rolls mounted in the frame; a driving means for the rolls; a pressure means for exerting pressure on the rolls; and a releasable top bar; the combination with the pressure means, driving means, frame and top bar of a pressure resetting device for resetting the pressure means whereby during resetting move ment of the resetting device pressure is applied to the rolls operatively connected with the top bar and the frame; and a safety release device for the top bar having means taking over the pressure betweenthe top bar and a stile at the completion of the setting movement of the setting device, said release device being operative independently of the driving means.

In a wringer having a frame, rolls mounted in the frame, and pressure means for exerting pressure on the rollsythe combination with the frame and pressure means of a lever actuated resetting device for the pressure means comprising a toggle, one of the links of the toggle having a slot having a portion lengthwise of the link and an offset portion; connections between the links and between the toggle and the pressure means and the frame, one of the connections having a member projecting into the slotand engaging the offset portion formed in the slot for locking the connection during a resetting operation, the
member being free to move in the lengthwise and limiting the upward movement of the link' portion of the slot at the completion of the resetting operation.

In a power wringer having a frame comprising a base and side stiles, rolls mounted in the frame, pressure means for exerting pressure on the rolls, a driving means for the rolls and a top bar; the combination with the top bar and a stile of a pressure resetting device having links pivotally-connected to each other and to the top bar and a stile, atleast one of the connections being releasable and released at the completion of the resetting movement; and a release device for the top bar at the same end of the top bar as the resetting device, said release device effectbetween the top bar and the frame comprising a link pivotally connected to the top bar, and a link having a pin and slot connection with a side stile, the slot extending along the side stile in the connection, the link connected to the top bar having an extension, the extensionand link forming a lever, operating to depress the top bar with an upward movement of the extension and with the link connected to the slot engaging the upward end of the slot, said slot permitting.

In a wringer having a frame comprising a base and side stiles, rolls mounted in the frame, a top bar, and a pressure means exerting pressure from. the top bar on the rolls, the combination with a stile, pressure means and top bar of a resetting device comprising a toggle, the links of said toggle being pivotally connected together at one end of each link and theopposite end of one link pivotally connected to the top bar, and the opposite end of the other link pivotally connected to a side stile, said toggle converting a lateral movement of the connecting pivot between the links to a relative vertical movement of the opposite ends of the links forcing, through such relative vertical movement, a downward movement of the top bar for resetting pressure on the pressure means, at least one of said pivotal connections being releasable and released at the completion of the resetting operation.
15. In a wringer having a frame, rolls mounted in the frame, and pressure means for exerting pressure on the rolls, the combination with the frame and pressure means of a resetting device comprising a toggle, the links of the toggle at all times being pivoted to each other and the frame and pressure means, and one link of the toggle being extended forming with the link an actuating lever to actuate the toggle to draw the frame and pressure means pivots toward each other to reset the pressure means, one pivot of the toggle device having a lost motion connection whereby a resetting swinging movement of the lever will reset the pressure on the pressure means through the swinging movements of the toggle links and permit, through said lost motion connection, a non-swinging release movement of the toggle.
