AUTOMATIC LOOK HAND LEVER.
Application filed July 23, 1926, Serial No. 124,461. Renewed February}, 1928.
The invention relates to improvements in automatic hand levers in which a catch overturns automatically, which releases the lever, with the aid of a slot in the lever or material used and a high pressure compression spring to keep the lever locked.
The object of the improvement is to provide a lever detent mechanism in which the detent is automatically controlled by movements of the lever.
One form of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Flgure 1 1s a side v1ew section of the ent1re lever.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the slot in the lever and the leaf spring.
Figure 3 is an end view of the lever.
The pull and push grip 1 is to pull and push lever 2 which has a flange 3 which keeps spring 4 from moving upwards. Spring 4 presses on socket 5, to which catch 6 is attached, with the aid of shaft 7 which is connected to lever 2. The slot 9 allows catch 6 to move upwards to overturn.
The spring 4 is of higher pressure than to whatever the lever 2 is connected. Catch 6 overturns each time the lever 2 is pulled or pushed.
Spring 4 keeps catch 6 locked. The leaf spring 10 presses on catch 6 in order for it 3 to engage on ratchet 11.
The compressed-air lever check 12 is pro-- vided to check lever 2 when being released.
I claim: The combination of a hand lever pivoted between its ends, and provided with a slot,
a collar on said lever having a slot therein,
a shaft passing'through the lever slot and the collar slot, a catch pivotally mounted on said shaft, a spring for normally holding 40 the catch in alinement with the lever, a shoulder on the lever, a spring of greater pressure than said first mentioned spring, the spring of greater pressure being mounted between the shoulder and the collar and ex- 4 erting a downward force on the collar, a ratchet with which the catch engages.
