This-invention relates to'combination garments comprising 'a conventional shirt and including one or more extensions of material which may be stretchable laterally of the shirt but which are non-stretchable longitudinally of the shirt or of the extension itself, said extension'being secured as by sewing to the interior Surface of a front shirt tail or tails and depending down fromsaid tail or tails interiorly of the shirt; in combination with means such as a strap or straps fasv tened to the interior surface of the rear shirt tail and depending therefrom interiorly of the shirt, there being a fastener or fasteners, for instance buttons, for connecting the extensions to the straps, thus forming a combination shirt and under-garment'the latter being normally conthefront shirt tail at the interior thereof and at fapoint wellspaced from the bottom edgeIB of the shirt tail. The extension iB'may be'se'- cured" permanently by sewing as at 2,0 or by any other meansde'sired; andthe extension depends substantially to the extent of the shirt tails when lying flat.

Another extension 22 is'provided and this extension is similar to extension I6 but reversed so cealed by the shirt tails and inducing a high degree of comfort to the wearer by reason of the fact that the extensions and straps are contained entirely within the shirt on the interior surfaces thereof. 7

Further objects of the invention include the provision of a combination garment as described which allows the usual under-garments to be dispensed with and which is extremely comfortable to the wearer and simple and'ine'xpensiveto manufacture.

' Other objects of the invention will appear hereinafter.

The combination garment comprising thepresent invention embodies a construction which is particularly comfortable to the wearer and is designed to afford the maximum freedom of movement; it embodies a construction which cannot, bind and whichaffords complete protection without however having any material which can bunch upor in any way interfere with active movements of a wearer of the garment.

Figs. 1 and 2 show a shirt I!) which is conventional ,in all respects except for the invention itself. and which embodies a rear shirt tail I2 and two front shirt tails I as is usual. In Fig. 1 the front shirt tails- I4 are raised to more clearly illustrate the invention and in Fig. 2 the rear shir'ttail I2 is raised for the same purpose.

I provide an elongated fabric extension I6 which is secured at one end to the upper part of as to be complementary to the extension I6, both extensions depending in the same manner at the interior of the shirt. I also provide means such as buttons 24 for securing extensions IBand 22 together in a detachable manner and it will .be seen-that buttons 24 lie along a line in extension of the conventional fastener line 26 of the shirt. Attached to widely spaced points at the interior surface of the rear shirt tail I2 I provide a pair of straps 28 which are secured inv the position disclosed substantially at the hip locations of the rearshirt tail. These straps depend at an angle in the manner shown and are detachably secured to the extensions l6 and 22 by fasteners such as for instance buttons 3'0. This construction clearly provides the freest possible unitary under-garment in combination with a conventional shirt, it being particularly noted that straps 28 cannot in any way interfere with bodily movements of the wearer, since these straps lie well to the sides of the shirt at the interior thereof.

In Fig. 3 I show a modification of the invention in which the shirt I U is conventional as previously described and which is provided with the samefront shirt tails l4 and rear tail I2. In this case however I providera single extension 32 which is secured as at 34 to one front shirt tail l4 only.

Also I provide a single strap 36 secured to the j rear shirt tail near the hip location thereof and far removed from the extension 32. Extension 32 and strap 36 may be secured together as in Fig. 2 or by anyother conventional or desired means. This construction also provides for very free bodily movement of the wearer and the combined strap and extension extend in a diagonal manner acrossthe crotch rather than in the moreusual manner which is-directly from front to rear. v

,The advantages of my invention will be easily apparent from the above description and it is to be noted that many variations may be made without departing from the scope ofthe invento the details herein disclosed, otherwise than as set forth in the claims, but what I claim is:

l. A combination garment comprising a shirt having front and rear tails, a separate elongated free ended extension secured to a front tail of the shirt on the interior surface thereof at a point spaced substantially above the lower edge of the tail to which the extension is attached, said extension being of a material stretchable laterally of the shirt and of itself and substantially non-stretchable in the direction of the length of the short and of the extension, and means secured to a shirt tail on the interior surface thereof to detachably secure the free end of the extension in position, whereby the extension is concealed by the front shirt tails, said extension having an area sufficient to enable action as an undergarment.

2. The combination of claim 1 including a second extension similar to said elongated extension, said second extension being secured to another front shirt tail and means detachably securing both extensions together.

3. The combination of claim 1 including a second elongated free ended extension secured to another front shirt tail on an interior surface thereof, means to detachably secure the extensions together, and means to detachably secure the free end of the second extension in position.

4. The combination of claim 1 wherein said means comprises an elongated strap secured to the rear shirt tail at one end, said strap having a connector at its free end for connection to the free end of the extension.

5. The combination of claim 1 including a second elongated free ended extension secured at one end to another front shirt tail, and means to detachably secure the extensions together along a line forming a continuation of the conventional shirt fasteners.

6. The combination of claim 1 including a second extension secured to the interior surface of another front shirt tail, and means to secure the extensions together, wherein said extension-free end-securing means comprises a strap secured at one end to the interior surface of the rear shirt tail and carrying a connector for connection to the two extensions.
