This invention relates to amusement devices,

and particularly to amusement devices of the chancefcontrolledtype. l

, The primary object of the invention is toprovide a device of this character which willbe comparatively small to be carried in `the, pocket, the device' embodying mechanism whicnwill spin a `coin within` a supporting frame, means being provided for abruptly stopping the spinning `of the" coin to displayone side of the coin. l

Still another'object of the invention` is to Lpro, vide a device of `this character whereinit `will `be impossible for the operator to stop the coin with a. predetermined side of. thecoin exposed to view.

Referring to the drawing in detail, the device comprises a body portion indicated generally by the referencecharacter 5, the body portion being in the form of a rectangular casing havinga central opening of a diameter slightly greater tha the diameter of a. predetermined coin.

which are mounted within the bearing openings formed in the Wall of the circular opening.` As clearly shown by Figure 3 of the drawing, the' pintles are provided with attened ends, the flat-j` tened end of the pintle 8 being indicated by the reference character I0, while the )flattenedend of the pintle 9 is indicated by-,the reference char`` `actor II, the attened ends Ii] and' II, being disposed with their side faces `at right anglesi'with respect to each other, for purposes'to be herein after more fully described. l

Positioned within the housing, anddisposedadjacent to one end thereof, is a partitioning member I2, which has a curved inner `edge conforming tothe curvature of the central opening of `the Right-angled flanges I3 are u formed on the partitioningmember I2, the free edges of the flanges contacting with the inner surface'of the adjacent section of the body `portion. ' The operating mechanism comprises a substantially U-shaped member I5 which has` olset portions I6 that provide stops to limit outward vInovement of the operating member when releasedby the operator. 'I'he operating member. moves through slots formed in one end wall of the body portion, the offset portions I6 being enclosed within the housing, as shown by Figure 2 of the drawing. The inner ends of the operating member are extended laterally as at I'I and provide abutments for the inner ends of the coiled springs I4 which are placed under tension, between the ends I7 and one end wall of the body portion, with` the result that normally, the operating member I5 is extended to the position shown by Figure 2 or the drawing, or to a. position ready for operation.

Extended4 inwardly from one leg of the operating member, is a lug I8, whichis adapted to contact the flattened portion IIJ of the pintle 8 at a point beyond the pintle, to cause the frame and coin supported thereinfto spin. The opposite leg of the operating member I5 is formed with an inwardly extendedfinger I9 which is so disposed that it will contact withthewide surface of the iiattened portion I I ofthepintle 9, stopping spin-v ning movement of the frame 'I and coin held therein. In using the device, the operating member I5 is normallyA in the position as shown by Figure 2. The device is now held between the index nger and the second finger of the hand of the operator, resting against one end of the body portion, the thumb of the handresting against provide compartments the operating member. The operating member is now forced inwardly, whereupon the lug I8 contacts the attened portion lil, spinning the frame 3. A device of the character described, comprising a body portion having a central openinga frame in which a coin is held, mounted for spinning movement within the opening, pintles extending from the frame, a substantially U-shaped operating member extending into the body portion, means on said operating member adapted to engage one of said pintles, spinning the frame and coin held therein, when the operating member is moved in one direction,` and means on the operating member adapted to engage the opposite pintle, stopping spinning movement of the frame e' upon reverse movement of said operating meming the device, without departing from the spirit ing a body portion having an opening formed therein, a frame mounted for spinning movement within the opening, said frame adapted to contain a'coin, pintles extending from the frame and being mounted in openings of the frame, an operating member mounted within the body portion and adapted to be forced into engagement with one of said pintles whereby said frame and coin are rotated, and means on the operating member adapted to engage one of said pintles, stopping rotation of said frame andl exposing the sides of the coin to view in the plane of the sides of the body portion.

A device of the character described, comprising a body portion having an opening extending therethrough, a frame having pintles, mounted within the opening, blades on. the pintles, said blades being disposed in planes at right angles with respect to each other, an operating member slidably mounted within the body portion, a lug on said operating member adapted to engage one of said blades, spinning said frame and' coin held therein, and a lug extending from said operating me'mber adaptedv to engage one of said blades, stopping spinning movement of the frame and coin, whereby the faces of said coin are temporarily held in planes with the sides of the body portion.

A device of the character described, comprising a body portion having a central opening formed therein, a frame containing a coin, mounted for spinning movement within the openingA of the body portion, pintles extending from the frame, said pintles having flattened ends the iiattened ends having their surfaces disposed in planes at right angles with respect to each other, an operating member slidably mounted Within the body portion, said operating' member adapted to engage one of the iiattened surfaces of one'of the pintles, rotating the frame when the 0per-' ating member is forced inwardly, and a finger on said operating member adapted to engage the attened surface of the opposite pintle, stopping rotationof said frame and exposing the faces'of the coin held within the frame, in the plane with the'sides of the body portion.
