' My invention relates, generally, to abrading machines, and more particularly-to sanding machines for shaping and cleaning pitted and'b'urnt welding tips such as are used in spot welding.
The primary object of my invention is to provide a simply constructed, inexpensive machine for shaping and cleaning such tips quickly and easily and which is especially designed for power .drive of shaping and cleaning implements and .for maximum flexibility as regards adjustment ,into 'difierent angular positions of the shaping and cleaning implements while the same are being driven. 1 l e Other and subordinate ;objectsare-also coin- .prehe'nded by my invention, all of which, together with the precise nature of my improve,- ments, will be readily understood when the succeeding description and claims are read with reference to the drawings accompanying and form- .ing part of this specification.

The discs 38 may be provided with outer abrasive faces of different typ s, for instance, coarse or fine, for use in different phases of the shaping and cleaning operation.

In a machine of the class described, a motor adapted to be mounted on a base and having an armature shaft, means to mount said motor on said base with said shaft in upright position, a yoke frame having a rear end straddling said motor and swingably mounted on opposite ends of said shaft, opposed pairs of disc-Iikeahrading implements axially aligned in each pair, means to mount said pairs of elements on the outer end of said yoke frame for rotation in unison and adjustment bodily in unison into different angular positions independently of swinging of said frame, and driving connections between said shaft and said, implements, said connections comprising a driving belt, said pairs of implements. forming therebetween pulleys around which said'belt is trained.

In a machine of the class described, a motor adapted to-be mounted. on a base and having an armature shaft, means tomou-nt said motor on said base with said shaft in upright position,- a yoke frame having a rear end straddling said motor and swingably mounted on opposite ends of said shaft, opposed pairs of disc-like abrading implements axially aligned in each pair, means to mount said pairs of elements on the outer end of saidyoke frame for rotation in unison and adjustment bodily in unison into different angular positions independently of swinging of said frame, and driving connections between said shaft and said implements, said implements com prising respectively a disc-like body having an internally grooved edge flange, a backing disc of cushioning material fitted in said groove, and
an abrasive disc fitted in said groove on said backing disc.
5. In a machine of the class described, a motor 1 adapted to be mounted on a base and having an armature shaft, means to mount said motor on said base with said. shaft in. upright position, a yoke frame having a rear end straddling said motor and swingably mounted on opposite ends of said shaft, opposed pairs of disc-like abrading implements axially aligned in each pair, means to mount said pairs of elements on the outer end of said yoke frame forrotation in unison and adjustment bodily in unison into different angular positions independently of swinging of said frame, and driving connections between said shaft and said implements, said implements comprising re- 'spectively adisc-like body having an internally grooved edge flange, a backing disc of cushioning material fitted in said groove, and an abrasive disc fitted insaid groove on said baoking disc, said-abrasive disc having flattened edge portions, and pins extending through said flange and groove alongside said flattened portions to key the abrasive disc to said body.
