Another object of the invention is to provide a. razor of the above kind in which simple and efficient means is provided for securing a razor blade in shavingposition at one end of the body.

Another object of the invention is to provide a'safety razor of the above kind in which the body is formed with a recess directly behind the exposed edge portion of the razor blade for permitting rearward passage of the soap and hairs during the shaving operation, and in which the soap and hairs may collect for being readily removed by washing at the compli tion of the shaving operation. The present invention more specifically contemplates the provision of a safety razor of the above kind which may be readily kept in a clean and sanitary condition, and wherein simple and eflicient means is provided for readily permitting removal or application of the razor blade.

Other objects and features of the present invention will become apparent from the following description when considered in connection with the accompanying drawings, and the invention consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the drawings and claimed.

Referring in detail to the drawings, and parinner end section 6. The body is of flat elongated block-like form and provided with rounded edges, as well as preferably tapering smaller or narrower from the outer to the inner end, as illustrated in Figures 2 and 4. The body sections may be conveniently molded of plastic material so that the inner portion of the main outer section 5 is formed with a central chamber 8 that opens through the inner end of said section 5 and is adapted to receive a quantity of razor blades for storing them in a conveniently accessible position. The inner end of body section 5 is preferably reduced, as at 9, the innerbody section 6 being removably fltted over this reduced end so as to form a closure for the chamber 8.

The body is provided with a rather blunt wide outer end, and a rabbet ill is formed in the surface of the outer end of the body so as to extend for a greater .portion of the width of said end 7 and to provide a shoulder against which the razor disposed with its major portion within this slot or recess'is a knurled circular knob l3 having the inner end of a spindle ll secured therein. In this embodiment of the invention, the recess or slot l2 is-preferably. provided in the back of the body and does not extend entirely through the latter. The body is provided with a suitable bore 15 longitudinally thereof and centrally between the sides of the same, and the inner portion of this bore is enlarged to receive the projecting forward end portion of spindle ll. This outer end of spindle I4 is provided with an axial threaded socket l6 adapted to threadedly receive the threaded free end portion I! of a shank l8 centrally carried by and projecting inwardly from a blade-clamping plate IS. The shank l8 projects through the forward smaller portion of bore l5 and .is preferably of elliptical or oval cross section for snug reception within a. notch 2|! provided in the back edge of the blade I I, thereby preventing turning of the blade relative to the shank It. If desired, the clamping plate 2| may have projecting lugs on its inner face, as indicated by dotted lines in Figure l, and the blade ll may have slots 22 to receive these lugs when the plate I! is'in clamping position with respect to the blade. Also, the lugs 2| may enter grooves 23 provided in the wall of the rabbet II which forms the abutment shoulder for the blade ll.
