Description
Jan. 9, 1945i L. F. MARI'O NON-REFILLABLE CONTAINER Filed Dec. 2o. 1941 INVENTOR. I m3 Farrar/lan 'm v BY y 4MM M /Q- Patented Jan. 9, `1945 Application December 20, 1941, Serial No. 423,730 `In Spain January 15, 1941 f1 Claims.
"It is unnecessary to elaborate on the importance of nding a, practical solution tothe problem of `providing bottles with a `device l.for preventing tampering with the contents or relling the bottles, I proceed to describe what the device of this invention comprises, with the` assistance of the accompanying drawing forming part hereof.
Operation-From the` vertical position of the container to the inclined position` in a course of t about one hundred and ten degrees, by the action The device consists essentially of the parts which are `described asa preferred form or embodiment,` since without fundamentally varying any of them, they may undergo certain modications which do `not affect the essence of the ensemble. The material to be used in its conl struction may be the one suitable for each purpOSS.
In the attached drawing, Fig. Iis a sectional view, which represents the device as a whole, ar-
y ranged in the neck of a bottle or the'like. The other figures represent diierent separated prtions of theunit, to wit: i
Fig. II discloses a cap ring with pendent retaining clamps attached thereto.`
Fig. III is an elevationof a rectangular of the device.
Fig. IV is an elevation of a similar plate forming a valve closure for a `passage through said device. l l I Fig. V illustrates a spherical counterweight.
Fig. VI shows the form of a triangular prismatic float of the device.
, Fig. VII illustrates a hollow cylindrical member ofthe same device. u
Fig. VIII is a ring gasket for the same, while Fig. IX illustrates a group of parts `of said device including a ring or Washer, an intermediate valve member and a lower ring member.
Throughout, the same references indicate the plate same or like parts.
As may be noted in Fig. I, thehollow cylindrical member 2 is surrounded by aringgasket l" fitting tightly againstthe'inner surface of the neck I3 of the container while a loose flat `valve closure plate 3 is adapted to close the crice in member 2. Above the closure plates is a pris- `matic float 4 comprising a straight prism, of
parafined cork for example, having an equi-` lateral triangular base as shown in Figurev VI.
5 represents a spherical weight retained inthe neck I 3 of the bottle or container by a ring `member Shaving a plurality of spaced downwardly projecting or pendent portions a (Fig. IX) formed with lower conical seats for seating or receiving the spherical member 5 therein. The aperture in ring member 6 is normally closed by valve 1 when the containeris upright and is retained assembled with the container by vmeans of a washer or ring 9 held in place by a pair of clamping straps 8, which are retained in place by an end or cap ring Il and a gasket l2 fitting within `the lip of the neck I3.
of the spherical body 5 on the float 4 and from this to the value 3, the passageof the body 2 remainshermetically closed, it being impossible to introduce liquids in the container. When the container is inclined to an extent of one hundred and eighty degrees, if liquid is introduced `through the neck of the container itwill act on the float 4 to` cause it `to exert pressure on the` valve 3, shutting passageway of 2, as above. Thus `provided it is not deemed preferable to dispense with part 3, causing this shutting function to be performed by the float itself.
In orderto empty the container, all that is necessary` is to place it in the last named position, i. e., betweendegrees one hundred and 4eighty and one hundred and ten, starting from the original vertical position, whereby, being displaced by their own gravity and that of the y of thebttle and retaining `said perforate member in place, a loose flat plate. forming a valve liquid, the moving parts 3, 4, `5 and 1, theliquid flows freely out. f l y Any attempt at interfering with the function of the closure members is thus rendered impossible by the rectangular baille plate I0 and the valve-shaped device formed by the ring member E and valve 1.
Having made the foregoing description I `will add that the invention rests on the following claims: Y
1. In an automatic device for vpreventing tampering with the contents of a bottle, having a neck and a spherical weight in the neck, the combination of a bottle a prismatic float beneath the spherical weight, a, perforate member below said float, a gasket tightlytting the neck closure disposed between said float and said perfor-ate member, a `ring member spaced `above said prismatic oat having downwardly projecting spaced portionsforming Va seat for Areceiving said weight and retaining the same in the neck,
a cap ring, a cap-ring securing gasket, a plurality of downwardly extending strap members attached to said cap ring for retaining aforesaid ring member in place, `a movable valve above the opening in thelatter, and a perforate retaining member secured in place by .said strap members above said movable valve to prevent loss of the same from the device. 2. A device according to claim 1, wherein the prismatic'float .is triangular in shape when `seen from above.
\ 3. A device according to claim 1, wherein the perforate retaining member is a `washer with a central opening therein.
4. A device according tg claim 1, wherein the perforate member is a hollow short cylinder.'
