This invention relates to improvements in multi-stack weft replenishing mechanism and it is the general object of 'the'invention to provide means by which bobbins may be drawn inrotation from a plurality of stacks of similarnbobbobbins which are released for transfer :by a selector. registerable with the stacks one "at a time. In the usual loom there isa stackfor each shuttle and the selector moves in timed relation with .the shifting of the shuttleboxes which place theshuttles in action. spring 34 connected to lever 32 and having its upper end anchored as at 35 with respect to the magazine frame tends normally to move lever 32 in a clockwise direction to move the selector 24 forwardly, or to the right, see Fig. 1.
The selector 24 includes in its construction a web 48 cooperating with an actuating lever 4| connected to the upper end of a vertically movable rod 42. The lower end of the latter is connected to a floating lever 43 pivoted intermediate its ends on a block 44 carried by the upper end of a vertically reciprocable rod 45.
The upper part of the magazine frame has front and back bearings 48 and 41, respectively, in which rocks a shaft 48 the front end of which has secured thereto an arm 49 connected to a depending rod 58 attached to a transfer latch or dog 5|. A depending arm 64 of the shuttle position detector carries the usual head not shown normally in forward position but movable rearwardly at the time of a transfer to determine whether the shuttle is properly boxed to receive a reserve bobbin. Shaft 48 has secured thereto a casting having a shelf or bar for cooperation with dogs 12 on the upper ends of the bobbin releasers l5 to l8.
The matter thus far described is of common construction in multi-stack weft replenishing mechanisms and operates in the usual manner. The bobbin releasers are normally down and bar II is raised to the full line position shown in 1 Fig. 2 and the cradles are empty, The rod 45 moves downwardly when the lay is on front center and a shuttle is in shuttle box B at the magazine end of the lay L. If 'at this time the detector D indicates weft sufficiency a pin 66 connected to the detector is moved to non-controlling position with respect to lever 43 and the latter has an idle motion, permitting rod 42 to remain unmoved so that the selector 24 is not given a rocking movement. If, however, the detector indicates exhaustion of weft in the box B, the pin 66 remains in. its normal position to interrupt downward movement of the floating lever 43 and the latter thereupon depresses rod 42 to cause rocking of the selector 24 in a clockwise direction as viewed in Fig. 2 to raise its fingers 22 and 23. The bobbin releaser registered with the selector is thereupon raised and its dog I2 moves outwardly under-action of spring 15 on the releaserto overhang the bar 1|, see' full lines, Fig. 2. Replenishment of the depleted shuttle is thus initiated and the shuttle is picked to the opposite end of the 100m.
When the shuttle returns rod 45 is given an upward movement, this movement occurring regularly at two-pick intervals and coming at that part of the loom cycle at or about the time the box shift at the opposite end is completed. Lever 43 is thereupon raised to lift rod 42 and cause a reverse rocking of the selector 24 to depress its fingers. The previously raised bobbin releaser is thus depressed, moving down to its normal position to rock the associated cradle for bobbin delivery. At the same time the associated dog 12 rocks the bar H to the dotted line position shown in Fig. 2, raising rod 8| to move the shuttle position detector 62 rearwardly, and lowering rod 58 to lift the transferrer latch or dog 5| into the path of the lay carried bunter 52. As the lay approaches front center position the transferrer arm 53 is depressed to move the released bobbin under it into the shuttle in'box B. During the latter part of the forward movement of the lay which effects transfer the shuttle position detector 52 is rocked in the counter-clockwise direction as viewed in Fig. 1 to exert a downward pull on rod 6| to restore the top shaft 48 to.its normal position, The magazine is thus reset and is ready for another transfer operation.
The two extreme angular positions of the shelf 10 shown in Fig. 2 are determined by a yielding lock mechanism of well-known construction designated generally at K. This lock includes an arm 11 secured to shaft 48, a second arm 18 movable about a fixed pivot 78, and a spring operating on a block 88. In the usual construction arm 1.? is close to the front bearing 46 of shaft .48, but in the present instance and for reasons'wh'ich will appear hereinafter I prefer to secure thearm 11 to shaft 48 a slight distance in front of the bearing 46.

In carrying my present invention into effect I provide each dog 12 with an upwardly extending hook or pawl 8| which is controlled by the associated spring 15. A stand 82 is secured to theupper part of the magazine frame and has front and back bearings 83 and 84, respectively.
A shaft 85 is rotatably mounted in these bearings and has a collar 86 secured to the rear end thereof behind bearing 84' to limit motion of the shaft to the right as viewed in Fig. 1, and also has a crank arm 81 secured to the front end thereof in front of bearing 83 which limits rearward movement of the shaft, or movement to the left as The longitudinal position of the shaft is therefore determined and does not change during shaft rotation.

Thus it is seen that for six transfers involving shuttle SA pin 96 is given six different positions at three different distances from shaft 25, thereby registering the selector twice with each of the stacks II, I2 and I3. Bobbins are therefore uniformly drawn from the front three stacks in a rotation which permits utilization of practically all the bobbins in these front stacks for replenishmentof shuttle SA. If shuttle SB should need 7 sumed more rapidly than the weft of either of the other two shuttles. Such a condition is frequently found in curtain fabrics where one decorative stripe predominates and is woven by one shuttle and where a less frequently used decorative weft is woven by another shuttle, while the round weft is laid by a third shuttle. Under these conditions it is desirable to replenish the more rapidly consumed weft from the front pair of-stacks II and I2 and replenish the other two shuttles from the rear stacks I3 and I4.
Fig; 14 diagrammatically shows a 100m of the type having three shuttles used in the modified form of the invention. In a weft replenishing loom having two said stop to the different stacks of reserve bobbins each provided with a bobbin releaser actuated by a selector movable into register with the releasers one at a time, the loom having displacing means. to move the selector away from registry with said releasers and also having return back into register means to move the selector with one or the other of said releasers, a two stepped stop for the selector capable of assuming. two positions each corresponding to registry of the selector with a different one of said releasers, a crank rotatably mounted on the loom, means operated by the releasers as the latter are actuated in succession by the crank to two working ranges of movement at different distances from the selector, and connections between the crank and the stop cooperating with the displacing and effect movement of one step of the stop into position to cause the selector to register with crank is in one of said ranges of movement and effect movement of the other step of the stop into position to cause the selector to register with the other releaser when the crank is in the other range of movement thereof.

In a weft replenishing loom having two stacks'of reserve bobbins each provided with a bobbin releaser actuated by, a selector movable into register with the releasers one at a time, the loom having displacing meansto move the selector away from registry with either of said releasers and having also return means to move the selector back into register with one or the other of said releasers, a stop for the selector having two steps and capable of assuming four different positions with respect to the selector, two of said positions corresponding to location of one step in stopping position relatively to the one of the releasers when the placing and return have the second one-space ing to said other two selector and the other two positions corresponding to location of the other step in stopping positionrelatively to the selector, a crank rotatably mounted on the loom, means operated by the releasers as the latter are actuated successively by the selector to move the crank to four different working positions at four different distances from workin positions corresponding to said two positions and the other two positions correspondpositions, the crank durcooperating with said dismeans to efiect movement of the stop to said first two positions thereof and thereafter efiect movement of the stop to the other two positions thereof.

In a loom having three shuttle boxes which shift through two equal one-space shifts and having a bobbin releaser selector movable ing a rotation thereof through three equal one-space shifts, and conconnected to the shuttle boxes and a second arm angularly disposed with respect to the first arm and operatively connected to said selector, said lever operative due to the angular relation of said arms to efiect a. movement of the selector through two of said three space shifts thereof when the shuttle boxes have the first of the twospace shifts thereof and said lever efiecting movement of theselector through the third of the three shifts thereof when the shuttle boxes shift thereof.
14. In a Weft replenishing loom having shiftingshuttle boxes and a selector movable into register with four bobbin releasers, one at a time, a part moving in timed relation with the shuttleboxes and a, second part connected to said selector, and a lever having an arm connected to one of said parts and a second arm connected to the other of said parts, said arms being so related that two successive equal movements in the same direction of the arm connected to the first named part will cause two successive movements of said otherpart one movement of which is twice as large as the other movement thereof.
