This invention relates to improvements in weft replenishing looms and it is the general object of theinvention to provide improved mechanism by which a shuttlecan be replenished by bobbins drawnfrom three stacksof a four-stack magaj zine. 1 v
In the weaving of certain fabrics using two types of weft, one of the wefts, is consumed much more rapidly than the other and'the shuttle weaving the first type requires replenishment much more rapidly than the other shuttle. An
example of such fabrics are curtains which have a ground weaveof fine weft and stripes of a coarse decorative weft. In my copending'ap-v plication Serial No. 490,155, filed Junev 9, 1943,
to provide a selector stop I have shown a loom in which two stacks of the magazine may beused for the replenishment of one shuttle. That application sets forth a rocking lever which controls a stop having two positions and movable into and out of stopping efiect delivery of bobbins alternately from the two stacks for successive replenishments of the corresponding shuttle. It is animportant object of my present invention to provide means by which the principles set forth in the afore said application can be extended to apply to three stacks of bobbins. In'the type of weft replenishing mechanism to which my invention more particularly applies there are employed vertically reciprocable bobbin controlling lever which shall: be turned innone direction byi two bobbin releasers when they operate-and shall be turned in the opposite direction to return to normal starting position byia third releaser when the latter operates." With these and other objects in viewwhich will appear as the description proceeds, my invention resides in the combination and arrange,- ment of parts hereinafter describediqand set forth. r i

It is another object of my presentinvention to provide a lever which shall cooperate withthree stack releasers and assume three different positions derived from the three releasers.
A three-step stop is connected to thelever' and moves under control of the lever so that its stops become successively operative to register the selector with the three releasers, one at a time, in a definite rotation which will effect uniform depletion of thebobbins of the three stacks.

A red 95 is formed with a slot 96 in its upper end to receive a stud 91 on the right end of I lever 'II, Fig. 3 and extends downwardly for attachment to a stop 98 which, as shown in Fig.
5, is .of inverted U-shape and has arms 90 which I straddle the shaft 29 to be guided by the latter as the stop rises and falls. The stop has a right edge I00 adapted for engagement with hearing 30 which limits movement of the stop to the right asviewedin Fig. 1.

In operation it maybe assumed thatarm'18" is in its highest position and that stop 98 is up, so that stop surface IOI cooperates with sprlng51 to register the selector with front releaser I5 whichis in down: position, see Fig. 1. 7
These conditions can exist when gang G is down and shuttle S and shuttle box 50 are active.
If upon arrival at the magazine end of the loom I shuttle 8' gives indication of weft exhaustionthe selector will berocked as already described and finger21will engage lug 2I of releaser I5, raising the latter so that its hook I0 will move from thefull line to'the dotted. line position, see Fig. 8, to place head II over surface I9 on arm I8. I The third replenishment of shuttles will resultin-a reciprocation of releaser I1, and asthe latter descends its hook II! will engage surface 82 i of the arm BI and rock lever IT in a counterclockwise direction around its pivot as viewed in Fig. 4. The pivot I6 and the lengths of the arms 18 and 8| are sorelatedthat down motion of the hook on releaser I! will rocklever 11 back to its starting position with arm I8 all the way up. The parts are now set to repeat the operations already described and as successive replenishments occur bobbins are drawn from-the stacks in theorder II, I2, I3-II, I2 and I3, etc. The
bobbins are therefore drawn from these three stacks at a uniform rate and their full capacity can be utilized for replenishmentof shuttle S'.
lt will be understood that if shuttle S gives indication of exhaustion it will be replenished I from the rear stack I4 in the usual mannerat any time when shuttle S is in box B regardless of the position of lever 'I'I, I
I have chosen to describemy invention in connection with a loo-m weaving a fabric having two types of weft, the weft in shuttle S and stacks I I, I2 and I3 being relatively large, while the weft in shuttle S and stack I4'is relativelyfine or small. One bobbin drawn from stack I4 will ordinarily lastas long as two or more bob-bins, drawn from stacks II, I2 and I3. I do notwish, however, to be limited to this type of fabric in the practice of my invention, inasmuch as it is sufiicient if the selector 25moves rearwardly in time to allow the stop08 to move to its proper stopping position subsequent to one replenishment of shuttle S,
and before the next replenishment of that shuttle.
Fig. 1, thereby lowering stud 91 and permitting the rod 05 and stop 98 to fall until it rests on the castin 2B. The replenished shuttle S is then picked to the opposite side of the loom and because of the characteristic of the fabric being woven there will be a shift of the gang G upwardly to place-box 5| and shuttle S in action. This shift of thegang Gcreates a pull in the connector and arm 36 moves to its rearmost position with finger 28 in register with releaser I8. During this rearward movement of the selector 25 the stop, 98 will complete its falling movement and place surface I02 in the path of casting 26. i U
When shuttle S next returns to action there will be a slackening of the tension in connector 55 and spring 5'Ivri1l tryto move the selector back to its front position but the stop surface I02, now beingin stoppingposition, will arrest forward movement of the selector and register finger 21 with releaser I6, see Fig. 3. These conditions will continue until shuttle S requires another replenishment, whereupon slide I6 will From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided simple means for replenishing one shuttle from three stacks of a magazine by, the use of a lever and multi-step stop operated by the releasers I I, Iz and I3. It will further be seen that replenishment involving a bobbin drawn from stack I3 restores lever 11 to a position where a second sequence of bobbin releasers can start with stack I I. It will further be seen that a singlelever adapted for rocking inopposite directions by the bobbin releasers is utilized to give the stop 98 its several positions and also insure the starting of another sequence of releasers upon completion of the preceding sequence.
Having thus described my invention it will be seen thatchanges and modifications may be made therein by'those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention stacks of bobbins each provided with a bobbin releaser operated by a selector movable toregister with the releasers, one at a time, the 100m having actuating means to move the selector away fromregistry with anyreleaser and subsequently return said selector to registry with one or another of the releasers, a, stepped stop capable ofzassuming threepositions each of which said stop registers the selector with a difierentreleaser, and a controller for said stop moved to three different positions by said releasers operating oneat a time and when in each position thereof cooperating with said actuating means to effect movement of the stop to a different one of the three positions thereof.
l 2. i In a weft replenishing loom stacks of bobbins each provided with a, bobbin releaser operated by a selector movable to register with the releasers, one at a time, the loom having actuating means to move the selector away from registry with any releaser and subsequently return said selector to registry with one or another of the releasers, a steppedstop capable of assuming three positions in each of which said stop registers the selector with a different releaser, and a'controller for said stop'movable to three different positions and'cooperating with said actuating means to move the stop to the three positions thereof, one position of the stop for each position of the controller, each releaser upon operation thereof by said selector changing the position of the controller and causing the latter in cooperation with said actuating means to cause thestop to register the selector with the next releaser to be operated thereby.
3. In a weft replenishing loom having three bobbin releasers operated by a selector registerable with the releasers one at a time, the loom,
corresponding to any given releaser cooperating with the actuating means to effect'movement of the stop to the position thereof corresponding to the given releaser.
4; In a weft replenishing loom having three bobbin releasers operated by a selector registerablewith the releasers one at a time, the loom having three having actuating means to move the selector releaser, and a controller for the stop operated by the releasers, one at a time, and cooperating with the actuating means, to effect movement of the stop to the three positions thereof.
5. In a weft replenishing loom having three bobbin releasers operated by a selector registerable with the releasers one ata time, the-loom having actuating means to move the selector away from registry with any releaser and subsequently return the selector to registry with one or another of said releasers, a selector-stop capable of occupying three different positions,
one position for. each releaser, and when in any position cooperating with the actuating means to register the selector with the corresponding releaser, and a lever connected to said stop and receiving two separate movements to two different positions from two-of the releasers, one re..- leaser for each position, and receiving" a third movement to a third position by the third're leaser, each of the three'positions of the-lever corresponding to a-difierent position of the stop, and the actuating means cooperating with the lever when the latter is in any, of the positions thereof to effectmovement of the stop to the position thereof, corresponding to the position of the lever; i i

In a weft replenishing loom having three bobbin releasers operated by a selector registerable with the releasers one at a time; theloom having actuating means to move the selector away from registry with any releaser and subsequently return the selector to registry with one or =another"ofsaid releasers, a selector stop capable of occupying three different positions, one position for each releaser, and when in any position cooperating with the actuating means to register the selector with the corresponding releaser, a :lever pivoted intermediate the ends thereof and having one end operated bytwo of said. releasers, one at vatime, to move said lever to two positions, oneposition for each of said two releasers, and the lever having the. other end thereof operated by the third releaser to move the lever to a third position, the releasers when operated in rotation moving the lever sue-- cessively to three different positions, and the actuating means cooperating withthe lever when the latter has said successive movements toeffect successive movements of the stop tothev three positions thereof toeifect registry of the selector progressively'with the releasers.

In a weft replenishing loom'having three bobbin'releasers operated by a selector registerable with the releasers one at a time, the loom having actuating means to move, the selector away from registry with any releaser and subsequently return the selector to registry with one or, another of said releasers, a selector stop capable of, occupying three different: positions, one position for each releaser, and when in any position cooperating with the actuating means stop, said lever when moving to'the positions thereof cooperating with said actuating means to effect movement of the stop to the three-positions thereof. i

In a weft replenishing loom having three bobbin releasers operated by a selector registerable with the releasers one at a time, the loom having actuating means to move the selector away from registry with any releaser and subsequently return the selector to registry with--one or another of said releasers, a selector stop capable of occupying three different positions, one position for each releaseryand' when in any position cooperating with the actuating means to register the selector withthe corresponding releaser, an operating hook-on each releaser, :a lever pivoted intermediate the ends thereof and having one arm for operation by-the hooks-of "two of said releasers when'the latter operates one at a time to move the lever 'to two different positions and having another arm for operation by the hook of the third releaser when the I escapee tion, said two releasers whenoperated, in order by the selector, one ata'tima-causing the hooks thereof to move the lever successively in one direction to two. diflferent positions thereof and the third releaserjwhen operated by said selector subsequent to operationpof said two .releasers causing the hookthereof to move thelever in the opposite direction tothe [third igposition thereof, said actuating means cooperating with said lever when the latter. moves progressively to the threepositions'thereof to, move saidstop progressively tothethree positions thereof, 1.

In a weft replenishing loom having three stacks of similar reserve bobbins and having a fourth stack of different bobbins, the loom operating with a bobbin releaser for each stack operable by a selector movable along a given. path to register with all of said releasers, one at a time, and the loom having actuating means to move the selector into registry with the releaser of the fourth stack and then return the selector to registry with one or another of the releasers of said three stacks, a stop having steps movable into and out of said path and assuming three positions relatively to said path, oneposition for each of said three stacks, a controller operatively and operatel each releaser, one at a time, the loomhaving actuating means to move the selector into registry with the fourth stack subsequent to anroperation of anyof saidireleasers by said selector and'thereafter return: theselectjor to registry. with one or another of said releasers,a

In a weft replenishing loom having three 1 stacks of similar reserve weft each having a releaser and having a fourth stack of different weft, the loom having a selector to register with 7 bobbin releasers, said mechanism comprising a lever, a pivotal'support for the lever intermediate the ends thereof, an arm on one side of said pivotal support for cooperation with one of said'releasers, a second arm on the other side of said pivotal support for cooperation with the other two releasers, one at a time, at points differently spaced from said pivotal support, one point for each of said two releasers, and a multistep stop for the selector connected to said lever.

In control mechanism for a weft replenishing loom bobbin stack selector registerable with three bob-bin releasers, one at a time, for operation thereof, positioning means for the selector movable to three different positions to t I determine with which releaser said selector shall register, and a controller for the positioning means movable to three different positions, each position of said controller corresponding to a different one of said three positions of i the positioning means, two of said releasers when oper-, ated in sequence by said selector shifting the controller from a starting position corresponding to one of the three positions thereof in sequence to two other positions, and the third releaser when operated thereafter by said selector shifting the controller back to said starting position.
