This invention relates to bails or handles to be applied to crooks, pans, &c.
The invention consists in the construction hereinafter described.
In the drawings hereto annexed, A represents an open ring. B B represent ears, having each one end turned upon itself, forming a tube, a. Near the other end of said ears, and at the same side with tube a, is a lug, b, projecting outward and downward, forming a catch. The ends I) of ears B B have perforations 0. Fig. 2 shows another form of these ears B, in which the catch or lug bis punched out from the body of the ear and then formed (Model) as above described, leaving a slot, (1. C repo resents a handle having hooked ends 0 e.
In use the ring A is to be slipped through tubes a a, so as to bring the ears upon opposite sides thereof. The handle is hooked into the ends of perforated ears B B, and the ring A is sprung around the crock, pan, or other article needing a handle. The catches I) are then made to gripe the edge of the article held or a shoulder thereon, and the whole will be secure.
In case of breakage the bail can be readily applied to another article.
The various parts of this device can be made of any suitable material.
\Vhat we claim is- As an improvement in bails for earthenware vessels, an ear having a tube, a, and a catch,
