1 Claim.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in anti-slipping devices adapted to be worn on shoes.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide an anti-slipping device which can be readily attached to the heel portions of boots or shoes to prevent slipping on ice or other slippery surfaces.
Other important objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the followingv description.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 represents a top plan view of the device.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the device applied to a shoe heel.
Referring to the drawing wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen in Figure 2, that numeral 5 denotes a shoe upper while numeral 6 denotes a shoe heel.
The anti-slipping device is generally referred to by numeral 1 and includes an elongated strip of flexible metal denoted by numeral 8, which is preferably bent to a U-shape and which at its lower edge is formed with inwardly disposed tongues 9, preferably three in number, distributed as substantially shown in Figure 1.
The lower edge of the strip 8 is further provided with depending tapered spurs I0, preferably four in number and these are adapted to bite into ice or other slippery surfaces to prevent slipping.
It is preferable that the device be substantially longer than the length of an average shoe heel and is formed with openings II at its end portions to receive a bolt l2. This bolt has a head a at one end and is threaded at its opposite end as at b to accommodate a winged nut l3.
5 The device is applied to a shoe with the tongues 9 bearing against the bottom of the heel. With the device in this position, the nut I3 is tightened on the bolt I2 to firmly clamp the strip 8 against the sides of the heel 6.
10 While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to b understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
An anti-slipping device for shoe heels comprising a U-shaped flexible member formed from an an elongated strip of metal and provided with a series of polygonal openings in each of its end portions, spurs integral with and depending from the lower edge of the U-shaped member, a bolt disposed through a desired aligned pair of the openings and equipped with a nut whereby the device can be clamped against the shoe heel, said bolt having a polygonal shank portion adjacent its head fitting an opening of one end portion to hold the bolt against turning, and integral tongues projecting inwardly from the lower edge of the fiexible strip for disposition flatly against the bottom of a shoe heel.
