PORTABLE WRITING-DESK.

Specification of Letters Patent No. 23,379, dated March 29', 1859.

I To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, IVILLIAM H. LOGH- MAN, of the town of York, in the county of York and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Method of Constructing Portable or Traveling Triting- Desks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in Which- Figure l is a perspective view, Fig. 2 a plan View When open, and Fig. 3 an end view When folded together.

The desk is divided into seven parts numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 7 in Fig. 2. Nos. l and 2 are different parts of the lid. No. 3 the back. No. 4 the bottoni or lower part. No. 5, 5, side or end pieces. No. G front part.

No. 7 7, the springs to keep the side pieces firm.

The different parts of the desk as described are attached to each other by hinges or their equivalent so as to allow of the desk to be folded up into a small space and to be carried in a traveling bag o1 trunk.

That I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The mode and manner of uniting the different parts of a writing desk by hinges or their equivalent, so as to admit of its being folded up into a comparatively small space, in the manner substantially as herein set forth.
