` (ois-sai) g 1 Claim.
My invention relates to a bedspread roller` and has as one of the principal objects thereof ythe provision of a bedspread roller so constructed and arranged whereby the same may be easily attached to a bedspread for rolling the latter thereon in a manner to preclude wrinkling oi thev bedspread when not in use. and to'facilitate the making of a bed from one side thereof.
An important object of my inventionis to pro" vide a device of the character described. which is simple in construction, durable in use, felicient in operation and economical in manufacture.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, appended claim and annexed drawing. Referring to the drawing wherein like reference characters designate like parts throughout the several views: f
Figure 1 is a perspective View of a' bed in a made up condition and illustrating, in dotted lines, my invention as applied to the bedspread.
Figure 2 is across sectional View of my invention and illustrating the same as attached to the head end of a bedspread. i Figure 3 is a perspective View of my novel for of bedspread roller. i
Figure 4 is a detail sectional View taken on the `line 4 4 of Figure 3, and
Figure 5 is a perspective View of a bed,.illus trating the bed clothing turned down for use and with the bedspread rolled about my novel form of roller and disposed at the foot of the bed.V
In practicing my invention, as illustrated in Figures 1 to 5 inclusive of the drawing, I provide a hollow casing or roller 5, lpreferably constructed of cardboard or the like and of an elliptical coniiguration in cross section. However, it is to be understood that the same may be of a cylin` drical or other desired configuration. The bot- Vtom of the casing 5 is provided with two longituits head end Il and said fold l0 is secured to the casing through the medium of the lowermost row of safety pins 1. The head end of the bedspread is disposed about the upperface of the.
casingand has its free end fastened thereto by means of the uppermost row of safety pins l as clearly illustrated in Figure 2. When the bed is in made up condition, the fold I0 and the safety pins are concealed under the casing and with the upper end of said casing disposed against the headboard of the bed. The casing 5, being of a hollow construction, permits the pillows I3 to be concealed therein and with the marginal sides of the bedspread draped over the ends of thecasing `as illustrated in Figure 1. When it is desired to prepare the bed for sleeping, the pillows are. removed from the casing 5 and the latsame for use under various conditions of service.
Moreover, it is not indispensable that 'all the features ofthe invention be used conjointly since lthey may be employed advantageously in various combinationsand sub-combinations.
It is obvious that the invention is not confined to the herein described use therefore as it may be utilized for any purpose to which it is adaptable. It is therefore to be4 understood that the invention is not limited to the specific construction as illustrated fand described as the same is only illustrative ofthe principles of operation, which are capable of extended application 4in various forms, and that the invention comprehends all construction within the scope of the appended claim.
WhatIclaim is:
In a bedspread rolling device, an elongated hollow casing of stiff materialopen at the ends, the said casing being approximately elliptical in cross'section and adapted to receive a bed pillow therein, and a pair of `circurnferentially spaced rows of fastening elements attached Ato the exterior of the casing inaxially separated relation for engaging a fold and the end marginal portion of a bed sheet.
