This invention relates to infants garments, and

more particularly to infants the infants crib or carriage. 1

Objects and advantages of the invention will be set forth in part hereinafter and in part will be obvious herefrom, or may be learned by practice with the invention, the same being realized and attained by means of the instrumentalities and combinations pointed out in the appended claims.

The invention consists in the novel parts, constructions, arrangements, combinations and .improvements herein shown and described.

The accompanying drawing, referred to herein and constituting a part hereof, illustrates one embodiment of the invention, and together with the description, serves to explain the principles of the invention.

One of the objects of this invention is to provide an infants crib or carriage garment with means which will solely and efficiently maintain said garment in a smooth ancl'orderly condition despite the action of the infant.

A further object of the invention is to maintain such a garment at all times in a safe and comfortable condition for an infant with a minimum of supervision.

A still further object of the invention is to provide an infants crib or carriage garment which can be used to retain the infant in a recumbent position.

Another object is to provide a garment which garments for use in can aid the infant to retain a sitting position in the crib orcarriage.

Another object is to provide such a garment which will retain the infant in a substantially central position within the crib or carriage and away from the sides thereof.

A still further object is to provide an infants crib or carriage garment which will aiiord complete coverage to the infant whatever the position of the infant in the crib.

Another object is to provide such a garment which may be efficiently folded and secured about the legs of the infant when the infant is removed from the crib or carriage.

Further objects of the invention and novel features of the construction will be apparent from the following specification, when considered together with the accompanying drawing.

In accordance with the present invention the infants garment consists of a relatively form fitting blouse portion, an apron attached to the front of the blouse portion, another shorter apron attached to the back of the blous portion, and means for attaching the front and back aprons together and to the blouse portion along each side of the blouse portion-and substantially at the waist thereof. Tapes are attached to the blouse portion at a point to lie'preferably in the center of the back and between the shoulders thereof, and are adapted to be readily'tied to the sides of the crib or carriage.

The front and rear apron portions, or either separately, may be provided with box-like fitted ends suitable to be fitted over an end portion of a crib or carriage mattress.

Means are provided for securing the apron por- I tions about the. legs of the infant when the garment is used out of the crib or carriage.

The'invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Fig. 1 is a view in side elevation of a crib or carriage mattress and an infant's garment embodying the invention;

Fig. 2 is a top view of the mattress and ment shown in Fig. l; and

Fig. 3 is a side view of the garment shown in Fig. l, folded and secured for use-out of the infants crib or carriage. I j

As illustratively shown in Fig. 1, an infant's garment according to the present invention and suitable for use in an infants crib or carriage may consist of a form-fitted blouse or jacket portion all ii, to which suitable sleeves l2 are attached in the ordinary manner, a front apron portion it and a shorter rear apron portion 99 attached to the blouse or jacket portion ii at the front and rear respectively and substantially at the waist thereof, and two connecting blanket portions to, attached along the front and rear edges to the front and rear apron portions respectively, and along the upper edges 7 portion 9 l substantially at the waist thereof, one connecting blanket portion being attached to each side of the blouse or jacket portion.

A tape it is attached to the back of the blouse or jacket portion ii at a point l5; which is preferably in a position on the blouse or jacket pontion to lie between the shoulder blades of the infant when the garment is in use, and is provided with easily'fiexible ends it to facilitate tying.

Buttons 22 are provided at positions to lie near each lateral edge of the rear apron portion it relatively near the waist of the garment, which may be engaged in button-holes 2i, lying at positions near each lateral edge of the front apron portion to and relatively near the forward end of said apron portion.

13 and 19 respectively and the connection blanket portions 20 are disposed over the top of the mattress M. It may be seen that either or both of the box-like portions 18 maybe constructed either as a separate. the front and/ or rear apron portions l3 and i9 respectively by any suitable means, or as an integral part of said apron portions.

With the construction shown it will be apparent that when the tape I5 is tied by the flexible ends H to the lower portion of the sides of an. I

infant wearing the garment will receive aid from said tape I6 in maintaining a sitting position and at the same time be retained-substantially in the center of the mattress l4 and away from the sides of said crib or carriage.

It will also be apparent that when the garment shown is fitted in the crib or carriage by slipping the box-like end portion l8 over the mattress H, the front and rear apron portions I3 and I9 respectively and the connecting blanket portions 20 will at all times he over said mattress M in a smooth and orderly condition without the possibility of the infant becoming uncovered, entangled in the tapes, or smothered by the blanket, and in such a position that the garment will not become wet when the infant wets the bed.

It will further be apparent that when the infant wearing the garment is removed from the crib or carriage, and the front apron portion 13 is folded about the legs and feet of the infant, and made to cover the rear apron portion i9, buttons 22 may be engaged in button-holes 29 certain particularity,

by gathering the material to bring the buttonholes 2| closer together. It will be seen that the garment thenforms'a warm, all-over protection for the infant for use out of the crib or carriage.

While the invention has been described with it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the invention is of wider-application, and is not limited to the particular application described nor to the embodiment illustrated in the drawing. Reference is therefore to be had to the appended claims for a definition of the limits of the invention.

What is claimed is: v

1. An infants protective garment including a relatively form fitting blouse to cover the upper portion of the infants body, an apron attached to the front portion of the blouse, a shorter apron attached to the rear of the blouse, said aprons each having a formed box-like fitted end adapted to fit over and enclose the end of a crib or carriage mattress and fastening elements for securing the bottom of the front apron to the top of the rear apron when the aprons are folded under the infants legs, said fastening elements being positioned adjacent the sides of the bottom end of the front apron and adjacent the sides of the top end of the rear apron, respectively.

2. An infant's garment of a type for use in a crib or carriage comprising in combination a relatively form fitting blouse adapted to cover the infant from the neck to substantially the waist, a tape attached to said blouse at a point in the center of the back and between the shoulder blades of said blouse and adapted to be tied to said crib or carriage, an apron portion attached to the front of said thereof, a shorter apron attached to the back of said blouse at the waist thereof, one of said apron portions having a formed box-like end adapted .to fit over and enclose the end of the crib or carriage mattress, and means for interconnecting the front and rear apron portions, said means and said apron portions covering the major portion of the top of the CIlb or carriage mattress.
