My invention relates particularly to safety razors of the double edged type, although not limited to this use alone.

The primary object of the invention resides in the provision of a novel .and efllcient safety razor provided with a plurality of-blades acting simultaneously in series whereby a close shave is quickly effected with relatively low blade pressure against the skin and without skin irritation or damage or tendency toward inducingingrown hair, the invention contemplating the adaptation thereof to existing razors. 7

With this object in view, my invention consists in certain features of novelty in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts by which the said object and certain other, objects, hereinafter appearing, are effected all 'as fully described with reference to the accompanying drawing, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring to the drawing, I designates a conventional elongated safety razor cap member which is curved transversely and is provided with a central screw stud 2. and registering-studs 3, these studs being arranged in alinement and intermediately and'spaced longitudinally of the longitudinal edges ofthe cap member, all as is usual. See Figures 1, 2 and 3.

An elongated transversely curved guard member 4 is provided with a registering and securing slot 5 therethrough, arranged intermediately and extending longitudinally of the longitudinal edges thereof, the slot being provided with spaced en'- largements i for registering and securing engagement with the studs 2 and 3 of the cap member in the assembly of the razor, as is usual. See Figures 1, ,2 and '7. A bored handle 1 is screwthreaded on the screw stud 2 for securing the razor in assembly, as is usual.

In the assemblyof the razor, a plurality of razor blades are employed with separating means guard member 4, due to the handle therebetween which-are clamped and registered between the cap and guard members after the manner in which the conventional blade is clamped between the guard and clamp members.

vThe razor blade of my invention, as shown, is generally similar to the usual flexible double edged blades and is designated at 8. See Figures 1, 2, 4 and 6. This blade is elongated, is provided with cutting edges 9 at both longitudinal edges thereof, and is provided with a registering and securing slot ll therethrough, arranged intermediately and longitudinal edges thereof, the slot being provided with spaced enlargements I2 for registering and securing engagement with the studs 2 and 3 of the cap member in the assembly of the razor, as is usual.

The razor blade separator of my invention, as shown and designated at I3, is elongated and may be of any suitable flexible material, ormay be of rigid material properly curved transversely, as designated in dash lines at I! in Figure '1, and is provided with a registering and securing slot I5 therethrough, arranged .intermediately and extending longitudinally of the longitudinal edges thereof, this slot being provided with spaced enlargements l6 forregist'ering and securing engagement with the-studs 2 and 3 of the cap member in the assembly of the razor as is the .case

with the blades, these engagements being. in-

volved as the securing and registering means of the assembled razor. See Figures 1, 2 and'5.

In the assembly of the razor, see Figures 1 and 2, the blades I with the separator l 3 therebetween are clamped between the cap member I and the 1 being screwthreaded on the screw stud 2. Qguardedby the guard member 4, makes a first or rough cut, after which the trailing blade makes a second or finishing cut,the skin being guarded during both cuts. As a res it, a close shave is effected without necessitating re-shaving, with resultant efficiency and less irritation to the skin, provision being made for the proper scavenging of all ofthe blades.

VWhile'I have thus described myinvention, I

do not wish to be limited to the precise detailsdescribed, as changes may be made readily with- ,out departing from :the spirit of my invention, 1 buthaving thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by. Letters Patent thfollowing:

' 1. In a safety razor, the combination with v elongated correspondingly disposed cap and guard members andassociated securing and registering means arranged intermediately and extending longitudinally of the longitudinal edges thereof,

In a safety raz0r, the combination with elongated correspondingly disposed cap and guard members and associated securing and registering means arranged intermediately and extending longitudinally of; the longitudinal edges thereof, of at least two correspondingly disposed elongated blades having cutting edges at both longitudinal edges thereof and an elongated separator disposed correspondingly therewith and therebetween secured between said cap and guard members and provided with securing and registering openings at their intermediate longitudiratorbeing provided with nally extending portions for cooperation with said securing'and registering means, said guard member, the blade next thereto and said sepacommunicating scavenge openings arranged between both longie tudinal edges thereof and said registering and securing openings and means, the scavenge openings of said blade comprising apertures therethrough adjacent the cutting edges thereof and spaced therealong, and the scavenge openings of said separator comprising slots spaced along the longitudinaledges thereof and extending inwardly therefrom. 3. A safety razor blade separator of normally flat flexible material provided with a scavenge opening portion extending along an edge'thereof.

4. A safety razor blade separator of normally flat flexible material providedwith a scavenge opening portion comprising slots spaced along an edge thereof and extending inwardly therefrom.

5. An elongated safety razor blade separator of normally fiat flexible material having asecuring and registering opening portion arranged intermediately and extending longitudinally of the longitudinal edges thereof and provided with scavenge opening portions extending along both
