Detachable Bracket for Steam Pumps.

EDGAR E. MILLER, OF CANTON, OHIO, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF OF HIS RIGHT TO OASSIUS lVL- MILLER, OF SAME PLACE.
DETACHABLE BRACKET FOR STEAM-PUMPS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 231,440, dated August 24, 1880. Application filed February 25, 1880.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDGAR E. MILLER, of Canton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Detachable Bracket for Steam-Pumps and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,which will enable others skilledin the art to make and nseit, reference being bad to the accompanying drawin g, forming part of thisspecification, wherein the figure is a perspective view of the bracket applied to the pump, the latter being principally shown by dotted lines.
My invention relates to a combined steam pump and engine, and has for its object to adapt it for use, either in a vertical, horizontal, or inclined position, in connection with a portable engine, such as is used for farm purposes, or with a stationary engine; and to this end it consists in a bracket which can be readily attached to and detached from the pump and its support.
In the accompanying drawing, A represents a combined steam pump and engine, (shown principally by dotted lines,) and to the side thereof is secured a bracket, B, by means of bracket-arms G 0, connecting, respectively, with the pump-cylinder D and steam-cylinder E. The bracket-arms are fastened to their supports by bolts and nuts or other suitable and detachable fastenings, and the bracket is provided with bolt-holes for the passage of bolts, by which it can be attached to a boiler or other support, so as to be readily detached when desired.
As the shape of the bracket is not the essence of the invention, it can be varied indefinitely, according to the position the pump and engine are to occupy.
By means of the detachable bracket the pump and engine can be used in any desired position, and as they are specially applicable to farm-engines of all styles and patterns, the advantages of the detachable bracket will be readily appreciated.
The pump and engine valves are arranged for adjustment so as to occupy a vertical position Without regard to the position of the ma chine.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is The detachable bracket B, constructed as described, and combined with the engine and pump by the bracket-arms (J, substantially as herein set forth, for the purpose specified.
