INVENTOR W MZ MM WITNESSES:
WZ/ i N-FETERS, PHDYO-UTNOGRAPHER WASHINGTON. D
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MARY W. BLAOKER, OF BRENTWOOD, NEW YORK.
STRAP FOR BABY-CHAI RS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 229,946, dated July 13, 1880.
Application filed March 10, 1880.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, MARY W. BLAOKER, of
. Brentwood, in the county of Suffolk and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Strap for Baby- Chairs, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide an improved strap for holding babies in their chairs and preventing them from falling out.
The invention consists in a waistbelt having a forked strap attached to the front, which strap is connected with the belt by two side straps, which form loops for passing the babys legs through, the belt being passed around the babys waist and one of the rear rounds of the chair back, and then buckled, whereas the forked ends are fastened to the front legs of the chair.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved strap for babies chairs, showing the manner in which it is fastened to the chair. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the improved strap.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A belt, A, of leather, cloth, or any other pliable material, is provided with aclasp or buckle, B, or some other similar device for closing it. To the front of this belt A a strap, 0, of the same or like material, and terminating in the two ends D D, is fastened by sewing or rivet:
(No model.)
ing, and a strap, E, is attached to the belt A at each side of the strap 0, a short distance therefrom, and is also fastened to the strap 0, thus forming the loops F F. The ends D D of the strap 0 are provided with buckles, buttons, or clasps G G.
The herein-described strap is used as follows: The belt A is passed around the childs body, the legs of the child having been passed through the loops F F. The belt is then passed to the outside ofone of the rear rounds of the back of the chair, and is then closed by means of the buckle B, clasp, or other device. The
.ends of the straps D D are then secured on the front legs of the chair by means of the buckles G G or like devices. The baby is now held safely in the chair, can move as much as is necessary, but not so violently as to rock the chair or tumble out of the same.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination, with thewaist-beltA,havin g clasp B at the back, of the front forked strap 0 D, having clasps G, and connected with belt by the straps E, as shown and described.
MRS. MARY WALLACE BLAOKER. I
