Description

AU EX G. WUNDERLICH.
Game Apparatus Patented July 6, 1880.
ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GENNARO WUSDERLICH. OI" PHILADELPHIA. PENNSYLVANIA. ASSIGNOB OF ONE-HALF OF HIS RIGHT TO WILLIAM H. EVANS, OF SAME PLACE.
GAME APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION iorming part of Letters Patent No. 229,791, dated July 6, 1880.
Application filed December 13. 1819.
To all whom mag concern: i Be it known that LGmmmo Wunnsumcn, l of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a i new and valuable Improvement in Game An 1 puratus; and I do hereby declare that the following is s full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being-had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and flguresot'rcfemnce marked thereon.
Figure 1 of tliedrswings is a representation of u plan view of the pen and its circumscribed triangle. Figs. 2 are edge and side views of tho pen-strips. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the cat, and Figs. 4 and 5 are sectional views ofhe same.
This invention has relation to the game of teddy or cat in pen; and it consists in u prismatic taddy or cat having elastic rings in grooves near its pointed ends and numerals on its sides or faces, in combination with n triangular pen, as hereinafter shown and described.
in the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates the cat which is made of wood or rubber, or oi wood bonded with rubber, and is formed with pointed amine and s prismatic body portion, b, whereof the sides a are numbored with ciphers and uumersls, substantielly as shown in the drawings. Usually I. prefer to apply I rubber or elastic ring, 4, in a groove near each end of the cat, as the rub be: will by its elasticity assist materially the Sight of the eat when struck.
' E represents the pen, which is triangular in form and constructed of three strips, u, havlng notches 9 near each end, whereby they are connected in sucha manner as to rest on their These strips are about as wide as the transverse diameter of the cat, and, being molly detached in a box, ay be packed with the est 4 3' ordinary stick will stake the u on serve as s but to one of its pointed ends.
The following rules set forth the game Wh ehy it is designed to bring these articles into use:
ltulc 1. To start the game, each plnyer tosses the cat. and the one turning up the highest the center ofit, leaving nronnd the pen uspncc.
m, as indicated in the diagram, Fig. 1. this space with figures, as shown.
Rule 3. If the pitcher throws the out in the pen it counts him ten, also the number up on the cat. If the out is thrown in the ill'lilllgle outside the pen it gives the butter strikes soooriling to thennmber of that part of the triangle in which it lies, and whatever number is up on the cat after each strike counts for the better. if a cipher is turned up it puts the better out, the pitcher takes the but. and the first tlehler takes the pitchcrs place.
Rule 4. When the cat is in the pen the better has one strike, and if he does not get it out the pitcher goes to the but and the batter to the field.
Rule G. If the fielder catches the cut when the butter strikes it he takes the but. It the cat is thrown outside the triangle it gives the batter one strike.
Rule 6. If the cat should lie with one of its corners directly up it will count one.
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In :1 game npparstns. s prismatic tzuhly or out having elastic rings in grooves near its pointed ends and numerals on its sides or faces, in combination with a triangular pen, substantially as set forth and described.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
GENNARO WUN'DERMCH.
