Description
v F M. MYERS. Binder and- Box Board.
No. 228,102. Patented-May 25,1880.
'WITNBSSBS: I p I UNITED STATES- PATENT OFFICE.
FRANCIS M. MYERS, OF JERSEY CITY HEIGHTS, NEW JERSEY.
BINDERS AND BOX BOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 228,102, dated May 25, 1880.
Application filed November 15, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS M. MYERS, of Jersey City Heights, in the county of Hudson. and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Binders and Box experienced in drying sheets above a certain thickness without injuring the qualities of the board.
My improvement consists in making the board of two or more homogeneous sheets of board cemented together in'the following manner: Homogeneous sheets of dry board, made of the materials usually employed in the manufacture of straw and mill board, or of other suitable material, are put together with glue or other suitable adhesive material, the number of sheets of board put together depending on the thickness of board required. When the sheets have been thus put together they are placed under the plunger of a hydraulic or other suitable press and subjected to a heavy pressure. The effect of this treat- Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A designates the board, and B B B B are the several homogeneous sheets connected together, which form the board.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The improved process of making binders and box board herein described, consisting in forming the board of twoor more homogeneous sheets of board glued or cemented together and set into a compact body by pressure, in the manner substantially as described.
2. As an improved article of manufacture, binders or box board formed of two or more sheets of board glued or cemented and pressed together, substantially as described.
FRANCIS M. MYERS.
Witnesses W. 0. Down, 0. SEDGWIOK.
