Among the. objects of the present invention is toprovide a novel manifold assembly comprising anoriginal and a copyrecord. sheet disposed in superimposed relationand so constructed and arranged that inscriptions can be transferred through the medium of transfermaterial provided on the original record sheet to the copy-record sheet and other comparative inscriptions can be a recorded on the originalrecord sheet adjacent thereto, and wherein" the said sheets are secured together on opposite sides of thetransfer material and have weakened severance lines inwardly besevered ordetachedalong the samet'o present in assembled relation a part of said original and copy sheet to present said inscriptions in sideby side relatio n for comparative purposes suchQfdr example, asis highly desirablein making duplicate inventorycountaand the like.

The present invention "includes as an object the provision of two superimposed sheets of material, one being provided with an area forming an original IBCOI'dShGBt and another'portion thereof serving asa transfer sheet providedwith transfer material, and the otherof said record sheets being disposed in transfer relation to said transfer material for receiving inscriptions therethrough, the said sheets being secured together substantially throughout their widthon opposite L sides of the transferTmaterialand having weakened severancelines inwardly, of the securing means wherebythe original record sheet and a portionof the copy record sheet attached thereto may be quickly severed fromthe transfersheet and a portion of thecopy record sheet attached theretowhen the operator grips c the assembly along a marginal edge thereof ,at said securing means and appliesan outward force'theretoso that comparisons may be readily made as be tween the inscriptions appearing on the original record sheet and the copy record sheet.

As afurther object of the present invention,

The presentinvention further includes as an object the provision of a copy record sheet with and in superimposed relation thereto constituting a portion foldable in respect to the transfer sheet an original record sheet for receiving inscriptions of the secjuringmeansfso that the twosheets may in Figure 1 of the drawing, with a part thereof to beitransferred to the copy record sheet and which may have weakened severance lines at or adjacent the fold whereby said original record sheet may bereadily removed from the remaining assembly so as to deprive an operator making a second: inventory count, for example, of this information. 1 i

Other objects, features, capabilities and advan tages are comprehended by the invention, as will, later appear "and as are inherently possessed.

2 and 4 are preferably formed from paper or the like, and in the present illustration the assembly is particularly adapted for use in connection with recording inventory counts, where it is. desirable to have the first inventory count checked byqanother individual in the organization and independently of" the first. The assembly therefore has certain printed forms appearing on the sheets Zand 4 so arranged as to facilitate these inventory counts, although it is to be clearly appreciated that the assembly embodying the invention herein described may be used for various purposes other than that specifically suggested.

The record sheet 4 has a portion thereof provided with form In constituting an original record sheet II adjacent which is the portion I2 disposed in overlapping relation to record sheet 2 which constitutes a transfer sheet provided with transfer material, such as carbon or the like I4, secured to the face of the sheet immediately adjacent the record sheet 2.

The record sheet 2 is formed with a portion I6 which constitutes that part of the record sheet 2 overlapped by record sheet 4 serving as a copy record sheet for receiving inscriptions, as will be later more fully described, through the transfer material I4. This copy record sheet I6 is provided with a suitable form, such as I8, which in the present instance is so designed as to facilitate inventory count. The record sheet 2' is further formed with a portion 2i! constituting an original record sheet which is connected to the copy record sheet I6 by a weakened severance line 22 and which may be folded in superimposed relation to the transfer sheet I2. This original record sheet 20 has printed on its outer face form 24 which conforms in design to forms I and I8 to facilitate the recording of inventory counts and for which the disclosed assembly is particularly adapted. The form 24 is so arranged in respect to thesheet 20 as to be disposed above the transfer material I4 on the transfer sheet I2 so that inscriptions, such as 26, made upon this sheet are transferred through the transfer material to form I8 on the copy recordsheet I6.

In the present assembly the transfer sheet I2 above the transfer material I4 has a blank copy thereon represented by a plurality of solid circular characters such as 28 which are placed thereon to prevent the operator making the second inventory count, as will be hereinafter more fully explained, from securing any information with respect to the inscriptions which have been transferred to the copy record sheet I6.

To facilitate the use of the device as contemplated, the copy record sheet I6 is provided with a weakened severance line 30 extending throughout the width of the said sheet and which is inwardly of the securing means 6 and on one side of the transfer material I4. In addition, the record sheet 4 is provided with a weakened severance line 32 extending throughout the width of said sheet which is disposed inwardly of the securing means 8 and on the other side of the transfer material I4 to provide an assembly whereby the transfer sheet I2 may be readily detached from the original record sheet I I.

As clearly shown in Figure of the drawing, that part of the copy record sheet'lfi attached to the transfer sheet I2 can be readily detached from the original record sheet II and that part of the copy record sheet I6 attached thereto by tearing the assembly along the weakened

severance lines

The assembly as above describedis particularly adapted for use in connection with the taking of inventory count where it is desirable to take two independent counts as a check against each other. At the time inventory is to be taken, one operator records his inventory count upon form 24 on the original record sheet when in folded condition, as clearly shown in Figure? of the drawings, after which recordation this operator will detach the original record sheet 20 from the remaining parts of the assembly along the weakened severance line 22. The manifold assembly is then turned over to a second operator for a count. This second operator then makes his count of inventory and records the same, as 34, in the proper space of form II) appearing on the original record sheet II. It is to be understood, of course, that these recordations are inscribed in the proper space for the particular material being counted, so that the count obtained by both operators for the particular articles or material for which an inventory count is desired will appear in the appropriate spaces opposite one another on forms I8 and I0. This second operator continues the count of the inventory, and when completed will turn the manifold assembly as it then exists over to the accounting department, where the inventory count of the two operators will be compared.

This is readily and easily accomplished in the use of the present manifold assembly for the reason that by gripping the manifold assembly at or adjacent the marginal edge thereof at the

30 and 32 into two parts, such as shown in Figure 5 of the drawing. That portion of the assembly to the right as shown in Figure 5 is constituted by a part of the copy record sheet I6 and the original record sheet II with the inscriptions indicating inventory count by both operators disposed opposite one another for ready comparison. In the illustration, the two counts as recorded by the two operators conform to one another, and no variation exists between the two, but since these counts are independent there may be variations in the recorded counts for the various articles or material forming the inventory, which would be clearly apparent by a comparison of the two as they appear side by side in Figure 5 of the drawing. Any variation can then be checked by the accounting department to determine the reasons therefor.

While I have herein described and upon the drawings shown an illustrative embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited thereto but may comprehend other constructions, arrangements of parts, details and features without departing from the spirit of the invention.

I claim:

'1. A manifold assembly or the like, comprls ing an original record sheet having an area on one side thereof provided with transfer material, a copy record sheet disposed in association with said transfer material and secured to said original record sheet on opposite sides of said transfer material, and said original and copy record sheets on opposite sides .of said transfer material having weakened severance lines within the boundaries of the secured portions of the original and copy record sheets whereby a part of said original record sheet and an attached part of said copy record sheet may be detached from another part of said original record sheet and another part of said copy record sheet attached thereto.

2. A manifold assembly or the like, comprising an original record sheet having an area provided with a form suitable for recording information thereon and an adjacent area provided with transfer material, a copy record sheet disposed in association with said transfer material for receiving recordations from said original record thereto.

4. Amanifold assembly or the like, comprising an original record sheet having an area for recording information thereon and an adjacent area provided with transfer material, a copy reooriginal and copy record sheets on opposite sides of saidtransfer material having weakenedseverance lines whereby a part of said original record sheet and anattached part of said copy record sheet maybe detached from another part of said original record sheet and another part of said copy record sheet attached thereto.

5. A manifold assembly or the like, comprising overlapping record sheets, one of said sheets having a portion forming an original record sheet and another portion forming a transfer sheet provided with transfer material in superimposed relation to the second record sheet, the other of said record sheets, having a portion forming a copy recordsheet underlying said transfer por tion of the other of said record sheets and another portion forming an original record sheet,

means securing said overlapped record sheets together on opposite sides of said transfer material, said second-named record sheet being foldable in superimposed relation to said transfer sheet whereby inscriptions placed thereon are transferred to said copy record sheet, and said record sheets inwardly of said securing means having weakened severance lines whereby said transfer sheet and an attached portion of said copy record sheet may be detached from said first-named original record sheet and an attached portion of said copy record sheet.

6. A manifold assembly or the like, comprising overlapping record sheets, one of said sheets having a portion forming an original record sheet and another portion forming a transfer sheet provided with transfer material in superimposed relation to the second record sheet,'the other of said record sheets having a portion forming a copy record sheet underlying said transfer portion of the other of said record sheets and anotherportion forming an original record sheet,

means securing said overlapped record sheets together on opposite sidesof said transfer material, said second-named record sheet being foldable in superimposed relation to said transfer sheet said second-named original record sheet, and

said record sheets inwardly of said securing means having weakened severance lines whereby said transfer sheet and an attached portionof said copy record sheet may be detached from said first-named original record sheet and an attached portion of said copy record sheet.

7. A manifold assembly or the like, comprising overlapping record sheets,one of said sheets having a portion forming an original record sheet and another portion forming a transfer sheet provided with transfer material in superimposed relation to the second record sheet,the other of said record sheets having a portion forming a copy record sheet underlying said transfer portion of the other of said record sheets and another portion forming an original record sheet, said transfer sheet above said transfer material having blank copy, means securing said overlapped record sheets together on opposite sides of JOHN R.
