HARNESS-BUCKLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 227,759, dated May 18,
Application filedMarch 23, 1880. (ModeL) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY W. FULLER, of Seneca, in the county of N emaha and State of Kansas, have invented a new and Improved Harness-Buckle, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to construct a buckle that when applied to the end of a harness-strap will hold the end of said strap looped, so that there may be received in the loop formed halter-rings, eyes of snaphooks, 850.
The invention consists of a reversible and double buckle having six bars, forming five loops, and providedwith two tongues set opposite each other, but one pointing to the right, the other to the left, each tongue having its respective tongue-bar and'tongue-rest bar.
Figure 1 is a plan of the buckle attached to a strap, in the loop of which strap a halterringis held. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of the same on line a 00, Fig. 1."

In the drawings, A represents the buckle; B, the harness-strap, and O the ring secured in the loop of the said harness-strap.
The buckle A has five loops, formed by the position of the bars, as follows: The tonguerest bar a and tongue-bar eform the first loop; the tongue-rest bar a and tongue-rest bar d form the second loop the bar 12 and tonguebar 0 form the third loop; the tongue-bar c andtongue-rest bar d form the fourth loop, and the bar f and tongue-bar e form. the fifth loop.
To apply a strap to said buckle A, the strap must be passed successively through all the loops above defined and in the order named, and the two tongues g h of said buckle must be entered into two respective holes made in said strap, as shown. One tongue of this buckle secures and receives the strain of the long end of the strap on one side of the buckle, while the other tongue secures and receives the strain of the short end of the strap on the other side of the buckle, so that a loop is formed in the said strap, as shown at D, in

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As an improved article of manufacture, a harness-buckle constructed,' substantially as herein shown and described, with six bars, a b c d of, forming five loops, through which the harness-strap is to be passed, and with the tongues g h, pointing in oppositedirections, and Without hearings on the opposite sides of the frame, as set forth. 4
