WASHING-MACHINE.

To all whom it may concern:

15e it known that I, (bionet: L. lVrisiL. of the city of Vtlilniington, in the State of Delaware, have invented a new and useful WashingAMaehine; and I do hereb5Y declare that the ollowing is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the saine, reference being had to the annexed drawings, makingr a part of this epeeiication, in which-- Figure, l is a perspective view. Fig. a section through the center.

A, is the tub with its Corrugated sides or ribbed surface.

B is the corrugated or ribbed center piece which revolvee in the act of washing.

C is the cross piece which holds the center piece in its place being attached to the uprights (l which are fastened to the Staind I) which holds the tub in place.

w is the false bottoni; the space between it and the bottom of the tub g.

/1 ie the lever or arm which moves the center piece and by which the whole thing is operated and is the gudgeon upon which the axis of the center piece revolves.

The tub being filled with water and the clothes placed therein` by rotating` the cylinder or center piece B to and fro or haltI way around and back again the clothes are Subieeted to a process as near that obtained by hand as can be imagined. The peculiar shape of the tub with the corrugated sides or ribs; corresponding. prevents hard rubbing of the articles washed and still in a few 22,764, dated January 25, 1859.
