Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of our said inventionv and in,

what manner the same is to be performed, ywe declare that what we claim is:

1. A receptacle for ashes or the likel with at least one. aperture in its walls for the delivery oi'v ashes into the receptacle. comprising a collecting plate for ashes or the like arrangedl on theoutside of said wall and movably mounted on the receptacle near the lower edge. of said aperture, said collecting plate being adapted to be brought ing plate for swinging same into ash receiving position when gthe closure plate isl swung into closing position, said holding/means being adapted to engage with said closure plate for holding l same in closing position when said collecting plate is in ash receiving position, and said holding means becoming disengaged from said closure plate to permit ,movement of said closure plate ll'ftovopening position when the collecting plate is swung into ash delivery position.

A receptacle?r as claimed in claim 3, an arm being arranged on said closure plate, and a push button being movably arranged in said receptacle, said push button .being in engagement with said arm. for causing.- a 4swingingfmovement of rthe pivot point of the closure plate is arranged into a rst position for receiving ashes and into a second position for delivering ashes through said aperture and closing same, a closure plate arranged on the inside of said wall andfmovably mounted on the receptacle near the upper edge of said aperture, said closure plate being adapted to be brought into a rst position for closing said 'aperture and intoa second position for opening said aperture, and means whereby movement of said closure plate to closing. position is adapted to cause movement of vsaid collecting plate to ash receiving position and whereby movement of said collecting plate to ashdelivery position is adapted to cause movement o! said closure plate to opening position.
