This invention relates to improvements in a scraping and cutting tool adapted to utilize safety razor and like blades, and which is adjustable to variouspositions so that it can be used for a multiple of tasks, and is a continuation-impart of my co-pending Aapplication Serial No. 97,529, filed August 24, 1936. Y
One of the objects of thi-s invention is to providean improved blade clamping portion or unit which will firmly hold a blade through hard usage, lsuch as when used for scraping, cutting, and the like purposes.
Another object is'to providean improved blade clamping portion which will firmly hold the blade and which can be adjusted to a number of positions or` angles or to a guarded position, as a single unit.
Another object relates to a method of adjusting andy securing the blade clamp in various positions or angles Yon the handle portion of the tool.
Other objects relate to vvarious features of construction and arrangement of parts which will be apparent from consideration of the following specication and accompanying drawing, wherein;

Referring to the drawing, I indicates the holder handle having a head lportion II which may be offset rearwardly as shown, and is substantially of the width of a conventional razor blade. The handle portion illustrated, is provided with a flange extending at right angles thereto to form the side walls I2 terminating in inwardly extending longitudinal flanges I3 to provide a magazine or elongated chamber where extra blades may be kept such as razor blade Illy or the screw driver I4', or other like blades such as a putty kriifeblade, etc. A spring I preferably in the form shown such as a U-shaped member formed with bowed legs, seats under the anges I3 and holds the extra blades in place regardless of their number, limited by the depth of the formed chamber. Thus an extra supply of blades is always on hand and ready for usewhen fragile blades such as razor blades be- 153 come worn Iand broken, or the chamber may be used for storing convenient extra tools Such as screw driver tips, putty knife blades and the like, all of which maybe readily withdrawn from M the chamber by merely inserting a nger between "the opening formed by the opposed flanges.
Referring to Figs. l, 2, 3, 4 and '7, the blade clamp unit consists of the plates Il provided with apertures I8 adjacent the forward edge thereof, and is provided with the further sub- Astantially centrally located aperture I9, comprising one member of the clamping unit, and the plate 2l),v which comprises lthe second complenientary member ofl the clamping unit is provided with a lpair of projections 2l struck thereefrom adjacent 'its forward edge. A screw 24 extendsA through the recesses I9 and'23 to hold the plates together in relative engagement as a unit by means'ogf which a blade such the razor blade 25 may be clamped between them as shown in detail in Fig. 4, interlocking engagement being obtained with a conventional razor blade by means of the projections 2l extending through'the conventional perforations 29 of razor blades, or lateral indentations 29' provided on blade tools rwhich are not necessarily razor blades. rThe plate 20 may have formations struck inwardly therefrom such as 26 at its rearward edge'o-pposed to thenblade clamping vedge to provide studs on its under surface such as at 21. It will also be readily understood that these studs may likewise be formed on plate I'I at the like edge so that it will extend between the two plates when placed in registry. These Istuds in addition to compensating for the thickness of the blade being clamped act as a wedge to force the clamped members together at the blade clamping edges to more securely grip the blade. Thus when the screw 24 is extended through the aperture I9 of plate I1 and threaded through the aperture 23 of plate 20 and a blade placed between the plates, the screw 24 may be tightened so as to securely grip the blade at the forward edges of the opposed clamping members and aided by the wedging action of the studs 21 extending between theplates at the rearward edges.
The modified form of construction of the blade clamping unit shown in Figs. 6, 7 and 8 comprises the clamping plate members I1 and 20', the. plate I1' being provided with projections 2| adapted to register with and extendinto the-apar:-l tures I8' to form engagement for ablade such as 25 clamped between them, and in a manner similar to my preferred form of construction;v Likwise the clamping plate member 20' is provided with the hexagonal projection 22"extend ing` upwardly from its surface and is providedl with a central threaded aperture 23" inwhioh may be. xedlypositioned the screw 3-1.. I claim as my invention:
1. A device of the class described comprising a handle portion and a blade clamping unit adapted to be engaged therewith in varied fixed angular relationship', ythe said blade clamping unit comprising a member' having projections adjacent one edge adapted to position a blade, a second complementary member having apertures adjacent one edge adapted to receive the skilledzin the art, that various: details maybe-1re?. l
