This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in combination combs and brushes and more particularly to a combination item of this character especially adapted for use by hairdressers.

The principal object of the present invention is to provide a comb and brush combination which can be readily used and which is provided with means whereby a comb can be held in conjunction with a brush in a convenient yet detachable manner.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specification.

Figure 2 is a side elevational View of the brush and short comb in combination.

Figure 3 is a side elevational view of the brush and long comb in combination.

Figure 4 is an enlarged fragmentary detailed sectional View taken substantially on the line 4 4 of Figure 2.

Figure 5 is an end elevational view of the combination comb and brush.

Referring to the drawing wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen in Figure 1, that numeral 5 represents the brush back of some plastic or hard rubber combination, having the elongated gradually tapering handle 6 of such formation that the same can be used conveniently as a roller curler.

The brush is of narrow construction and has stiiT bristles l especially suitable for brushing out curls.

Numeral 8 denotes the brush back clip which is constructed of spring metal. This clip is substantially U-shape in longitudinal extent and has its upper edge portion curved inwardly as at a/-a to partly extend over a longitudinal slot 9 in the top of the brush back 5.

The free ends of the leg portions of the U- shaped clip 8 has round enlarged ends l0 the central portions of which are indented as at Il for disposition into recesses in the back 5. The indentations Il on opposite sides of the clip are for the thumb and index lingers to aid in changlng from the comb or brush to the curler.

Figure 2 shows a short comb l2 having its back disposed into the slot 9 and this comb has longitudinally extending grooves I3 in its back portion which receive the upper edge portions a-a of the clip 8.

As shown in Figure 3, an elongated comb I4 can be employed and one end portion of this comb has grooves l5 in opposite side portions thereof for receiving the upper edge portions of the clip 8.

A clip I6 can be detachably disposed on the handle 6 and riveted or otherwise secured as at l1 to the corresponding end of the comb I4. With the long comb attached to the back of the brush shown in Figure 3, the combination is especially adapted for use for all around comb and brush uses while cutting and forming the coiiures.

While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. In combination, a brush consisting of a back, a handle and bristles, and a comb detachably secured to the back of the brush in outstanding position, and a spring clip on the brush back adapted to grip and hold the comb, said clip consisting of an elongated U-shaped spring element, the upper edge portions of which are disposed over the back of the brush, said brush back having a longitudinally extending groove therein for receiving the comb, said comb having grooves therein for receiving the curved edge portions of the clip.

2. In combination, a brush having bristles and a back, a handle for the brush, a clip structure on the brush back, an elongated comb having one end portion engageable with the clip on the brush back, the other end portion of the comb being provided with a barrel for receiving the free end portion of the handle.

3. In combination, a brush having bristles and a back, a handle for the brush, a clip structure on the brush back, an elongated comb having one end portion engageable with the clip on the brush back, the other end portion of the comb being provided with a barrel for receiving the free end portion of the handle, said handle being of tapered construction at its free end portion, said barrel being of tapered construction to wedge onto the tapered end portion of the handle.
