1 Claim.

The present invention relates to new and use ful improvements in racks for supporting neckties and similar articles and has for its primary object to provide a collapsible device of this character embodying a lazy tong construction having pegs projecting outwardly from opposite sides of the lazy tong arms and providing spring clips engageable with each of the pegs to clamp the tie thereon.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character of simple and prac tical construction, which is neat and attractive in appearance, relatively. inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which- Figure 1 is a side elevational view,

Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view taken sub stantially on a line 2--2 of Figure 1,

Figure 3 is a sectional view taken substantiah ly on a line 3--3 of Figure 1,

Figure 4 is a sectional view taken through the outer end of the lazy tong substantially on a line G4 of Figure 1,

Figure 6 is a transverse sectional view showing a further modification in the construction of the pegs.

In the form of the invention illustrated in Figures 1 to 5 inclusive, the attaching bracket is designated at 3! which includes a pair of vertically spaced strips 32 between which upper and lower spacing blocks 33 and 34 are positioned, each of said spacing blocks having fastening openings 35 for attaching the same to a wall structure or the like. The upper spacing block 33 is provided with a transversely extending pin 36 which has its ends projecting into the strips 32. The block 33 is also provided with a slotted opening 3'! in its lower edge for receiving the end portion of one of the lazy tong arms 38 for pivotally attaching the same on the pin 36.

The opposed edges of the strips 32 are provided with channels 39 for slidably receiving the tongues 46 formed on the opposite side edges of a carrier 4| slidably mounted in the bracket 3!. The upper edge of the carrier 4| is also provided with a slotted opening 42, within which the inner end of another lazy tong arm 43 is inserted for pivotally mounting the same on a pin 44 extending transversely of the opening 42.

In this form of the invention the pegs desig-= nated at 45 are relatively short and the inner ends ii? of the spring clips 4? are bent downwardly and formed with a slot 23 for receiving the grooves 22 formed at the inner ends of the pegs. One edge of the slotted end of the clip is formed with an extension 26 having an inturned extremity 2i engaged in opening 23 in the arm. The intermediate portion of the clips ii are curved transversely to conformably seat on the end portions of the pegs 5 and the extremities d3 of the spring clips are curved upwardly to prevent accidental displacement of the tie which in this form of the invention is supported on the upper surface of the spring clip.

The end of the lazy tong construction terminates in short arms 49 and 5B which are pivotally connected at their outer ends by a pin 51 having finger gripping knobs 52 on the ends thereof for manipulating the lazy tong.

Each of the pegs 45, as well as the pin 5i may be provided with spacing washers 53 to space the

38 and 43 from each other to prevent rubbing of the surfaces of the arms during the opening and closing of the lazy tong.

In Figure 6 of the drawing I have illustrated a further modification of the peg construction, wherein the lazy tong arms are designated at 54 and 55 respectively, the end portions of the arms being pivotally connected by means of a pin 56. The ends of the pin project outwardly from opposite sides of the arm and positioned thereon are pegs 5'! which have bores 58 at their inner ends for receiving the ends of the pin 55.

In this construction the spring clips are omitted.

It is believed the details of construction, advantages and manner of use of the device will be readily understood from the foregoing without further detailed explanation.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim is- An attaching bracket for a lazy tong tie rack and comprising a pair of spaced parallel vertical members, a spacing block at the upper end of the members having a notch, a pin transversely of the notch, said notch receiving one portion of the lazy tong for pivotally mounting on the pin, a carrier slidably positioned between the members and having a tongue and groove engagement with the opposed edges of the members, said carrier also having a notch and a second pin transversely of the last named. notch pivotally supporting another portion of the lazy tong thereon.
