ll/Iy invention relates to shavers for shaving hair and the objects of my invention are:
First, to provide a shaver with vacuum means in connection therewith for drawing the skin and hair into cooperative relation with the shearing blade of the shaver so that an extremely close shave may be attained;
Second, to provide a vacuum operated means for causing a vacuum in connection with the shaver head and shaver blade for drawing the skin into curved form in close relation with the shaver blade and holding the same in said curved close relation while the shaving is edected;
Third, to provide a shaver head that is so shaped and constructed that a vacuum may be eniciently and effectively applied thereto for drawing the skin into close relation with the shaver blade during the shaving operation;
Fourth, to provide a shaver head and shaver blade and vacuum means in cooperative relation therewith that tend to raise the hair outwardly for close cutting while operating the shaver;
Fifth, to provide a shaver of this class in which i the vacuum means may be utilized for the pur- Eight, to provide a shaver of this class whichis very simple and economical of construction, easy to operate, easy to clean, emcient in its ac tion and while will not readily deteriorate or get out of order.
With these and other objects in view as will appear hereinafter, my invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement oi parts and portions as will be hereinafter described in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the characters of reference thereon which form a part of this application in which:

The shaver head i, shaver blade 2, drive shaft 3, journal member I, vacuum bulb 5, and body member 6 constitute the principal parts and portions of my shaver. v
The shaver head i is provided at its face engaging side with an elongated concave-convex portion la, leaving side edge face engaging portions in and lo, and end edge engaging portions id and le, all of said edges being on the same plane. This shaft 3 may be connected with any power producing mechanism such as a motor, air compressor or the like for mechanically or electrically operating the blade 2, the motor not shown.
The shaft 3 is mounted in a journal member t whichis provided with packing la to form a substantially tight joint around the shaft 3. This journal member I is supported by means of a partition 411 secured to the inner side walls of the shaver head I slightly above the tubular member lb and forms an air tight partition in said shaver head I and confines the air and vacuum in the small space below the partition 4b as shown best in Fig. 3 of the drawing.
The operation of my shaver is substantially as follows: Power is applied to the shaft 3 for revolving the same by any power producing mechanism. The bulb 5 is compressed in the hand of the operator and the shaver head is placed against the skin to be shaved, the edges face of the skin and the blade 2 reciprocated over the portion I a by the revolution of the shaft 3,

In Fig. 5 is shown a diagrammatic view of the position of the skin during the shaving operation, the direction of the shaver movement being shown by the arrow in Fig. 5. It will be noted that the skin is drawn tightly in substantially convex outer surface form against the concave under surface of the portion la which tends to raise the hairs upwardly out of the skin as shown in Fig. 5 at the middle and they are cut off while in this projected position so that after the shaver has passed over, their ends are substantially below the surface of the skin as shown at the right in Fig. 5 of the drawing. It being noted that not only are the hairs raised outwardly as shown in Fig. 5 of the drawing, but at the same time as the hairs enter the cutting openings, they are drawn still farther out of the skin.
Though I have shown and described a partic ular construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions, I do not wish to be limited to this particular construction, combination and arrangement, but desire to include in the scope of my invention, the construction, combination and arrangement substantially as set forth in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Pat'- ent is: I
1. In a shaver of the class described, the combination of a shaver head provided with an elongated concave portion with a' substantially rectangular face engaging edge provided with hair receiving openings therein, all of which are spaced inwardly from said edge and said shaver head being whollyair tight surrounding said openings and edge and a shaver blade shiftably mounted in contact with the inner side of said concave portion.

In a shaver of the class described, the combination of a shaver head provided with an elongated concave portion with a substantially rectangular face engaging edge provided with hair receiving openings therein, all of which are spaced inwardly from said edge and said shaver head being wholly air tight surrounding said openings and edge, a shaver blade shiftably mounted in contact with the inner side of saidv concave portion, and expandable vacuum means independent of the operating means of said shaver communicating with the interior of said shaver head.
3. In a shaver of the class described, the combination of a shaver head provided with an elongated concave portion with a substantially rectangular face engaging edge provided with hair 4. In a shaver of the classdescribed, the combination of a shaver head provided with an elongated concave portion with a substantially rec-i tangular face engaging edge provided with hair receiving openings therein, all of which are spacedinwardly from said edge and said shaver 'head being wholly air tight surrounding said openings and edge, a shaver blade shiftably mounted in contact with the inner side of said concave portion, said shaver head being entirely enclosed and air tight except for the hair receiving openings therein and expandable vacuum means operated independently of the shaver operating mechanism communicating with the interior of the enclosed portion of said shaver head.

In a shaver of the class described, the combination of a shaver head provided with an elongated concave portion with a substantially rec tangular face engaging edge provided with hair receiving openings therein, all of which are spaced inwardly from said edge, said shaver head being wholly air tight surrounding said openings and edge, a shaver blade shiftably mounted in contact with the inner side of said concave portion, and a resilient vacuum bulb communicating with the interior of said shaver head, said resilient vacuum bulb being entirely closed except for its tube connection.

In a shaver of the class described, the combination oi a shaver head provided with an elongated concave portion with a substantially rectangular face engaging edge, which face engaging edge is wholly on substantially the same plane, said concave portion provided with hair receiving openings therein, all of which are spaced inwardly from said edge and said shaver head being wholly air tight surrounding said openings and edge and a shaver blade shiftably mounted in contact with the inner side of said concave portion.

In a shaver of the class described, the combination of a shaver head provided with concave portion with a face engaging edge provided with hair receiving openings therein, all of which are spaced inwardly from said edge and said shaver head being wholly air tight surrounding said openings and edge, a shaver blade shiftably mounted in contact with the inner side of said concave portion, and expandable vacuum means independent of the operating means of said shaver communicating with the interior of said shaver head.

In a shaver of the class described, the combination of a shaver head provided with concave portion with a face engaging edge provided with hair receiving openings therein, all of which are spaced inwardly from said edge, said shaver head being wholly air tight surrounding said openings and edge, a shaver blade shiftably mounted in contact with the inner side of said concave portion, a resilient vacuum bulb communicating with the interior of said shaver head, saidresilient vacuum bulb being entirely closed except for its tube connection.
