IMPROVEMENT IN PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 222,984., dated December 30, 1879; application filed July 3, 1879.

The invention relates to that class of plows which have, as distinct parts, a mold-board,
- share, and land-side.
The object and purpose of the invention, is
twofold: first, to obviate the necessity of the appearance of bolts or holes therefor on the working-faces of these parts; and, second, to furnish each of such parts with a substantially lateral support from each of the other parts.
- The invention consists in providing the mold-board and share, each of them, with a flange upon the back side, made integral therewith, and in providing the land-side with a flange upon the back side, made integral therewith, which extends to and is bolted to the flanges of the mold-board and share, thelandside flange forming a base for the attachment of the other flanges.
The letter 0. denotes the mold-board, hearing the flange a, integral therewith." I) denotes the share, bearing the flange b, integral therewith. 0 denotes the land-side, bearing the flange-base c, integral therewith, to which the flanges a b fit and are secured by bolts or the like.
The letter (Z denotes the standard, attached at its foot to a wing projecting from the landside, and, higher up, to a wing projecting from the mold-board.
The letter 0 denotes a leaf on the moldboard, designed to be used for the attachment of a plow-handle, the other handle usually starting from the beam.
A modification, perhaps too obvious to need mention, is that the short downwardly-extending leaf, which forms a part of the base-flange, may be dispensed with and the flange b fitted to the remaining leaf.
I claim as my invention The mold-board a, with its flange a, the share b, with its flange b, and the land-side c, with its base-flange 0, extending and secured to the other flanges, all combined, substantially as shown and described.
