' This invention relates to fireplace accessories.

. An object of this invention is to provide a highly attractive and useful replace accessory,

consisting of a kettle mounted on a tray, having .3 an electric heater and suspended by chains from a hinged adjustable bracket attached to the side of the fireplace, the construction being such that the kettle can be removed after the water boils and may be set on a table if desired.

A further object of this invention is to provide in a unit of thecharacter described, an adjustablek bracket so constructed that the kettle and tray may be suspended in any desired position inthe fireplace, and may be readily swung 5 away from the fireplace, so that the kettle may be the more easily removed from the tray.

, A still further object of this invention is to provide in a unit of the character described, a

tray provided with transparent or colored transh 2U lucent plates beneath the kettle, so that light nfrom the fireplace may illuminate the kettle.

f Still another object of this invention is to provide a neat, rugg-ed and durable fireplace acn cessory of the character described, which shall l be relatively inexpensive to manufacture, at-

tractive in appearance, easy to adjust and manipulate, and yet practical and efficient t0 a high degree in use. Other objects of this invention will in part :M be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.

- The invention accordingly consists in the features vof construction, combinations of elements, and arrangement of parts which will be exemplied in the construction hereinafter de- 35 scribed, and of which the scope of application will be indicated in the following claims.

Referring now in detail to the drawing, l0 designates a fireplace accessory embodying the invention installed in a fireplace I2. The fireplace I2may be of any usual construction, hav- 55' ing'a frontvertical wall I3 surrounding the' nreplace opening, and interior side walls i3d. The fireplace may be provided with electrically lighted logs or other illuminating means` at the bottom of the fireplace, not shown. Such electric illuminating means are well known and sometimes simulatev burning coals or` embers.

The accessory I3 comprises a bracket I4 which may be attached to an inner wall I3a of the fireplace. plate I5 formed with openings I6 to receive screws or other attaching devices I1, for attaching the brackets to the Wall of the iireplace.

" Extending from the plate I5 is a horizontal tubular member I8. Slidably extending in the tubular member I8, is a horizontal rod I9 formed with an eyelet or opening at its outer end. Mounted on the rod I9 is a hanger 2| comprising a vertical upwardly extending screw 22, extending through the eyelet or opening 20. At the lower end of the screw 22 are a plurality of downwardly and inwardly curved hooks 23. On the screw 22 is a wing nut 24, for attaching the hanger to the rod I9.

Attached to the hooks 23 are the upper ends of a plurality of chains 25. Any number of hooks 23 and chains 25 may be provided, although it is preferable to have three hooks and three chains. The lower ends of the chains 25 are attached to a tray 30, described in detail hereinafter. The tray comprises a central, annular, cylindrical member 3l having an annular, inwardly extending bottom ange 32.

The cylindrical member 3| is open at the top, and has a cut-away portion 3Ia. Integrally formed with said cylindrical member 3|, are a plurality of similar, radial, horizontal arms 36 having downwardly stepped,y outwardly extending portions 38 at the outer ends thereof. The portions 38 of the arms 36 are formed with vertical through openings 39 to receive eyelets 39a, to which are connected the lower ends of the chains 25.

On the arms 3S is a flat horizontal plate 40 of glass or other translucent or transparent, preferably colored material. The plate 4I) has a central opening 4I to receive the upper portion of the cylindrical member 3|. Mounted on the outwardly extending portions 38 of the arms 3B, is a fiat annular ring 45 of glass or the like transparent or translucent colored material.

Lemons or other articles may be placed on the annular ring 45. Said ring has an upwardly extending bead 45a at its outer periphery to retain articles placed thereon from falling off.

The bracket I4 comprises a flat vertical Within the cylindrical member 3| is an electric heating unit 4l' of usual construction, provided with a pair of radial extending prongs 48 projecting through cut-0ut 3la, to receive an electric socket of a cord connector.

Removably mounted on the cylindrical member 3l is a metal kettle or other receptacle 50, having a groove 5l to receive the upper end of the cylindrical member. The kettle 50 has a iiat bottom wall or base 52 projecting into said cylindrical member and substantially contacting the heater 4l'. The kettle may be removed from the cylindrical member after water therein is heated or boils, and placed on a table.

It will be noted that electric lights or other illuminating means at the bottom of the fireplace will throw light upwardly through plates 49, 45, to illuminate the kettle. The colored plates and will produce highly attractive illuminating effects.

The position of the hanging unit may be adjusted by pulling the rod I9 outwardly to any desired position.

In Fig. 5 there is shown a bracket 6D illustrating a modified construction, attached to a Wall of the fireplace. The bracket has horizontal arms 8l, and pivotally mounted on said arms, is a member 62 having a horizontal arm 63. Received on the arm 63 is a tubular member 64. The tray and kettle may be supported from the outer end of the tubular member 64 in any suitable manner.

It will now be noted that the tray and kettle may be swung about a vertical axis, and also moved outwardly due to the sliding action between the member 63 and 64, to adjust the position of the kettle and tray as desired.

The kettle is provided with a plurality of spaced eyelets i0 at the top. If desired the lower ends of the chains may be detached from the tray and connected directly to the eyelets 10, so that the kettle may be suspended without the tray.

It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved, and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.

As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiments above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawing is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

l. In combination, a member adapted to be xed to a fireplace, a member pivoted thereto about a vertical axis, and having a horizontal arm, a member slidably mounted on said arm, chains attached to said second member, a horizontal tray supported on said chains, an electric heating element on the central portion of the tray, and a vessel removably mounted on said tray and over said heating element.

2. A tray comprising a central cylindrical portion, and radial arms extending therefrom, an electric heating element within said cylindrical portion, a light transmitting plate mounted on said arms and having a central opening to receive said cylindrical portion, and a vessel removably mounted on said tray, over said electric heating element, and having means to engage said cylindrical portion.

3.111 combination, a tray having a central cylindrical portion, and radial arms extending therefrom, a light transmitting annular plate 0n said arms, and having an upwardly extending bead at its outer periphery, a vessel having a portion receiving the central cylindrical portion of the tray, and a heating element within said cylindrical portion of the tray, and beneath said vessel.

4. In combination, a bracket adapted to be attached to a wall, and having a horizontal p0rtion, a member slidably mounted on said horlzontal portion, a hanger on said member, a tray, means for suspending said tray from said hanger, said tray being formed with a central cylindrical portion, an electric element within said portion, a vessel on said tray, and having means to engage said cylindrical portion, and covering said heating element.

In combination, a bracket adapted to be attached to a wall, and having a horizontal portion, a member slidably mounted on said horizontal portion, a hanger on said member, a tray, means for suspending said tray from said hanger, said tray being formed with a central cylindrical portion, an electric heating element within said portion, a vessel on said tray, and having means 'to engage said cylindrical portion, and covering said heating element, and a light transmitting plate on said tray.

6. In combination, a bracket adapted to be iXed adjacent the fireplace, a member slidably mounted on said bracket, a member suspended from the rst member, and provided with an electric heating element, and a vessel removably mounted on the second member, and over said heating element.

In combination, a bracket adapted to be fixed adjacent the fireplace, a member slidably mounted on said bracket, a member suspended from the rst member, and provided with an electric heating element, a vessel removably mounted on the second member, and over said heating element, and a light transmitting plate on said second member and below said vessel.

8. A tray having a central cylindrical portion, and radial arms extending therefrom, an electric heating element within said portion, a light transmitting plate mounted on said arms, and having a central opening to receive said cylindrical portion, said radial arms having downwardly stepped, outwardly extending outer end portions, an annular ring of light transmitting material on said outer end portions of said arms, and a vessel removably mounted on the cylindrical portion of said tray, and over said heating element, and having means to engage said cylindrical portion.

9. In combination, a member having a central chamber, and portions extending outwardly from said central chamber, an electric heating element within said chamber, a vessel mounted on said chamber, and over said heating element, and light transmitting members on said outwardly extending portions, and below said vessel.

l0. In combination, a tray comprising a frame, an electric heating element thereon, a light transmitting plate on said frame, and a vessel removably supported on said frame and over said heating element, and above said plate.
